They quote something like 4 weeks for service. Seeing as sharpening is something you can do, I'd say that's not really a reason to say no more KAI products. Just sayin'.

I want to try Elmax steel. Very few fixed blades out there. Folders? More.

I've worked with dozens and dozens of EMT's and have never known a knife on their side to be an issue. Maybe wait a bit and see what your colleagues carry. Good luck and have fun with it.

I bought in a few of these for my EMT buddies. The blade and safety cutter are automatic. Not cheap, but great knives.
Also, the N680 steel won't rust. Similar to the spyderco salt series knives.

Thats pretty sweet, I love the fact that it does't have a sharp point, showing in some proportion that you dont carry it to mean any harm.

I guess thats true, imo it would look out of place due to the fact that you're showing up to save a life, kinda like if an EMT/Paramendic showed up to the scene with a gun holstered to his side; concealed or not it might prove to be counter intuitive and even put you in harms way once they see you with a gun. I could be wrong :/

One the local agencies is Public Safety. Not sure how true it is today but members used to go between LE and FF with LE carrying bunker gear in the trunk.

I see a lot of folders in vests or sheaths. I cannot say I've seen fixed blades on medics before-maybe rescue tools but in a sheath.

Ugh - after abstaining from knife purchases for a while, I ordered a Strider fixed blade today. Will need to sell something so I can sleep tonight, lol. Pics when it arrives.

A lot of the Microtechs are Elmax, both fixed and autos. ZT does a bunch of folders in Elmax too.

I'm never sure which is better. s35vn or Elmax. The later is harder and has better corrosion resistance. But in a fixed blade, is that really better?

No. Bottle openers, no. I actually quit trying to collect anything.

That buck110 is a freakishly good knife. Mine takes a wicked edge.

I made the leather as well. It has a Kydex liner in it to prevent cutting out the stitching. He's a die hard hunter, and I put handles on about two blanks a year. Tat one is birds eye maple with cherry.
