Yeah the stones I use on my axes aren’t cheap by any stretch. But once you got them your set. I have not spent a lot of time hand sharpening my knives. This is something that has intrested me over the last year. I had some what exhausted my other hobbies, and while I have always carried and used a variety of knives. Recently I have caught the bug.

I definitely gravitate towards fixed blades, that hasn’t changed since I was a kid ;)

The stones are great, but guide itself is ok I guess. It would something to start out with! Freehand is the way to go. Once you use the guide for a while, ditch it and try your hand at freehand. It's all muscle memory after a while.

DMT makes great stones, I prefer their diasharp bench stones for size and ease of use, typically use an extra coarse and extra fine (something like 250 grit and 1200 grit) plus strop.

Their mini honers are great too for field sharpening axes and whatnot, but much harder to maintain angle.

Looking good man love the hardware! Have you replaced the teflon washers with pb or does the teflon seem to hold up? I'm replacing with pb regardless because my blade actually has some rub marks from the handle scale. The marks dont bother me, im going to use it as a tool but the teflon isnt enough
Edit-long way of asking if you have replaced where did you find them???

This is the 6th gen Hinderer, so it comes with the ball bearing washers. The ball bearing washers totally blow the teflon and phosphor bronze washers out of the water! The best Hinderer they have made to date! You can buy the PB washers for pretty cheap on ebay.

Yeah, I have several different ones...they seem to be the perfect balance between affordable and reliable...there are (probably) better knives out there, but they come at a premium price....and there are cheaper ones as well, but I'd never trust my well-being to one....

And they are all cool

Will do! I'm down to pretty much my solid keepers right now, but if I do decide to offload, I'll let you know!

Your EDC2 is out for delivery by the way!
