    I'd recommend the above, for a top shelf, large, cutting/chopping tool. It's the Carothers Behemoth Chopper. If you are looking for budget, I'd recommend a Becker BK9 or BK21. If you can find one, the SYKCO 1311 is a beast of a knife as well.

    I am a fan of Lansky. They have been around for decades and are proven. In fact my set is about 40 years old.
    I sharpen with the Lansky and then maintain/hone with a steel.

    Got it on sale at wal mart for like $27 or something like that. It's not super great blade steel but for that price, and it's US made i'll take it.

    Kershaws are at the perfect price point where you get good quality but if you lose one, it's not the end of the world. That's why I have like 5.
