That's a good idea I think though because all the knife handles are titanium, aluminum, micarta or G10 the magnet wouldn't work

edit: Just tested yah magnets don't stick only to blade

Technically, it's salt, garlic, black pepper and it's Red Oak/Coastal Live Oak. If you're really serious, beans and a salad go with.

It's amazing to see all the places on the sidewalks of Santa Maria. Even better to stop somewhere and try someone's idea of what it is. Mmmm! If you want a great Santa Maria style steak, try the Far Western Tavern in Orcutt. Guaranteed good.

I crack up when people critique recipes.

especially something like Paella. "that's not paella, it should have rabbit". or for me, fried rice. I riff on recipes all the time. my Kalbi would make a diehard Korean dude mad. :)

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Here it is. The Rescue 93, perfect for any boating enthusiast. Or hell this could cut thru a seat belt with a quickness. Love the shape, as it is very purpose specific.

... Garlic Salt is the standard, but I'm going off Jocko's, The Swiss, and BPOE 1538.

Far Western's gone significantly downhill. Hit The Swiss when they reopen, they BBQ all day. Jocko's still BBQs only in the evening, but they're as solid as ever. Shaw's has reopened (again) but the food's not quite Santa Maria.

ETA: Red Oak is not the same as Coastal Live Oak, as California "red oak" is Quercus agrifolia whereas "Red Oak" or the Querdcus rubra ergo my verbiage.

There really aren't BBQ's on the sidewalks anymore, SB Citiots had some objection to it around 15 years ago. They still happen, but it's not a dozen plus options every weekend anymore. Filipino Community's still around, Valley Christian's isn't.

Additionally you skipped the best part of the meal: garlic bread, be it from the griddle or grill.

That's too bad about the Far Western-we used to ride down to get lunch and ride home. I haven't done that for a while. I'd much rather go to Parkfield Cafe and have a burger for lunch. Parkfield would be a fun place to have a lunch meetup.

The Santa Maria BBQ is one of those deals that has a real "official definition". Which is why I think you saw so many weekend stands-many had their interpretation. I totally understand the "Citiots" reference. I feel like there are a bunch of people moving to towns like SB who "love living in [...]" then proceed to f the place up....

And garlic bread? I'm a take it or leave it person but definitely, needs to be part of the package.

I actually put tri-tip in the instantpot...turns out great. I can't bbq where I live so it's my easiest option.
