I ordered a custom meatcrafter with carbon fiber and ivory white handle.

 

Picked this up at Lowe’s to have for a beater knife. Real nice blade thickness and ball bearing action opens and locks quickly. pocket clip and textured handle. If I lose it I am not out much.

 

That’s a nice little flipper, might have to snag one for the workbench.

 

The steel is not top of the line but it holds a edge pretty good so far. Priced less than $20

 

Definitely a good beater.

Made a couple more Mule handles this week. This dyed maple Burl turned out freaking sweet. I also got a couple design hours in this week on my personal knife I'm designing. The Nebulous!!! At the rate I’m going I will probably have my first prototype done in February or March. Full time job and a wife and 3 little kiddos means only a few hours a week to work on my side gig. Lol. But I put in 110% to this so that one day knife making might be my full time job.

I upgraded my Benchmade Emissary today to a CLA ...

 

My grail-ish knife is on the way. Took some looking for damn near a year. Got it for a song.
Might make me sell my unused Goigh Resolute.

 

What is your “grail” knife?

That’s a great question and I bet the answer is as different as those who answer.

I don’t know I had a good answer for a long time. There were three knives I really wanted, Hinderer Slicer, Spartan Harsey Folder, CRK Sebenza 21. I’ve collected all three and then some. Each have exceeded my expectation. And so far, I haven’t set my sight on a new “grail” yet. I’d love to have a hand made knife but those can be very difficult to find and with those I’ve admired, definitely not something I would use or carry.

Right know my grail piece that I want is a Herman sting. He is one of the makers that as inspired me to start making knives. Another grail piece I want it a Grimsmo Rask.
