This is now my 3rd Benchmade knife!!!
My nephew will be graduating high school next year and mentioned to my wife about buying him one as a graduation gift. She didn’t like the idea. He lives in Texas and is a very outdoorsy kid. Any opinions on this?

I freely admit that I am no knife sharpening expert. I have a handheld sharpener with built in angle assists to get you started. My daily pocket knife is a lightweight Benchmade that I’ve had for a few years. I do my best to toss a fresh edge on it a few times a month. I know Benchmade used to offer a “tune up” service for your knife but I’m wondering what that includes? Anything I can’t do at home with all of my tools?

*also what’s the general consensus on Benchmade around here? I have two but one never gets used. It keeps the burners company in the safe. Who said that??

Benchmade is an OK knife. Just like ZT and Kershaw are OK brands as well. They’re good EDC knives.

There are other, more expensive pieces and when you have had a chance to use one and you begin to understand what makes them more expensive and maybe find yourself owning one at some point when you compare a maker’s design from the maker themselves vs say ZT.

I wandered over here to see if anyone had any input on Cobratec compared to Microtech OTF knives. But after going through about a 100 pages I didn't one Cobratec knife. So I decided to just get a Microtech OTF. Buy once, cry once. By the way, you guy's have some nice collections.
