This is my Schrade hunting knife. I’ve had it for 50 years. It goes with me on every single hunting, fishing, backpacking, camping trip and every time I venture into the woods and wilderness. I’ve skinned out deer, rabbit, duck, pheasant, turkey and various other game and birds. I’ve cleaned fish with it. It’s been used to cut just about everything imaginable on my wilderness adventures. I’ve got dozens of knives but this is my go to, do it all outdoors knife. Original sheath too.

Can anyone tell me about these knives? Never heard of the brand but I'm also not as familiar with knife brands as I am with guns. Model? Value? Found them with my uncle's stuff. Won't ever sell them but just curious.
    Thanks

Those appear to be super high quality knives with Damascus laminated steel blades. Many brands do production runs with Seki Japan knife makers.

Spartan Harsey Fighter. This is one of their "Professional" series made by Ka-Bar. The blade steel is 1095 Cro-van. Nice knife. I like how it feels in hand and like all Spartan knives, it's balanced. All in, it weighs just over a pound. The blade is 6.125" and 11.50" overall length. Comes with a really nice Kydex sheath. About $130.

It's very similar to the Difensa which is made of ether S95VN or in later models, CPM Magnacut and about $450. Both knives were designed by Bill Harsey--my most favorite is his Spartan Harsey Folder.

    Very cool!

Wish they’d make some Harsey folders in 1095 for 1/3 of the price.

Poros, Astor, and Talos. They are not exactly the same but still great knives.

Pardon my ignorance ... some use knives that go for less than $100, others have knives like Benchmade Triage ($252 for the tanto model that is apparently not S30V, $270 for the drop-point that is S30V). Both have the fold out hook to cut seatbelts/cords and the glass-breaking carbide tip.

While I can see the advantage of the glass-breaking tip and the seatbelt cutter, is there a durability factor that makes the $150-premium worth having around for the hope-not-occurring emergency?

Blade steel, pivot, construction, country of origin, designer, size. There are a number of factors that drive cost. The sub hundred's are sometimes copies of something else manufactured in volume with cheap labor. The Triage is made in Oregon. You might also find better pricing on sites like KnivesShipFree or DLT Trading.
