Were there any Norwegians in your in-laws family? A lot of Norwegian folks migrated to the PNW, particularly around Ballard. My paternal Great Grand parents immigrated to the PNW from Norway somewhere around 1910.

Not that I'm aware of. Her dad flew for the AF (P38, C124 and C141 during WWII) and later on commercially, so he was all over the world.

Well, if he was flying C124s and C141s, he might have picked it up locally. The are an important NATO country and we had planes going in and out of Norway all the time during the cold war.

I have several skinners. But I like the feel of this one the best. Nothing fancy…but razor sharp and great ergonomics.

    Like, so many.
Giant Mouse Ace Clyde with brass scales. Blade is M390. It also come with micarta scales which certainly saves on weight, but I just wanted the brass. It’s right handed, tip up carry only.

Couldn’t pass up the deal I got on this Civivi Appalachian Drifter. Cool little front flipper with a very thin hollow grind. IMG_6595.jpg

I have all 3 sizes and love them for butchering deer. Hack bone with ease. Perfect for skinning with the curved end. That point at the transition from the curve to straight area is great for cutting ligaments. It sharpens pretty easy with about anything. Only thing I would say is to be sure to find an oil you like. That carbon will rust up pretty quick in the kydex sheath. I use olive oil.

The smell is the only reason I keep saying I'm gonna mix some up! Need to make me an air freshener for the truck that smells like that or Rem oil. Hard wood smoke is what it has been for a few years.

For how I abuse a pocket knife, I always prefer one that isn't coated. Seems to whipe off easier on my pants before cutting my steak. Lol

I picked up a T2 and it’s only slightly longer than the BK-18. A nice size overall. The notching ‘saw’ teeth on the back are excellent for striking a ferro rod. Holding the blade at the farthest position back feels safer with a pinky and ring finger through the dongle for retention.

Couple new GECs this month. 48 Improved Trapper in African blackwood on the left, and a 72 Plainsman in Gaboon ebony. Now I can stop looking at knives for a couple days, maybe.
