Hi all. This is a super-easy website to use. I'm glad I found it. Let me tell you a little bit about me. My hubby and I (42 years and going strong!) are loyal Toyota owners. We are upgrading from a Sienna to a Tacoma for two reasons. First, we have 19 grandchildren and end up going to the lake quite often in the summer. We take four kayaks and a stand-up paddleboard so the grandchildren can have a good time. It's all we can do to get all of this in the Sienna and still be able to drive. We think that by upgrading to a truck, we'll be able to take all of the kayaks, the stand-up paddleboard, and a few passengers every time we go to the lake. It should improve our experience. Second, we would love to go off-roading through the deserts of Utah. We are desert rats and can't spend enough time in the red desert! We can't really off-road much in a mini-van so we look forward to taking the Tacoma off-road.

I have one quick question for all of you if you don't mind. I want to have a tonneau cover (tri-fold or rolling?) on the bed and also a rack higher up for a rooftop tent. Is there a rack that is sturdy enough for a rooftop tent that works well with a tonneau cover? I'd love to hear what has worked for you and if you can give me some specifics on the brand and model numbers it would be even better! Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Welcome to TW! Take a look at the below thread I started a few months ago asking a similar question about Tonneau covers. If you want a Tri-fold Tonneau, you’re going to have a hard time finding a bed rack that’ll allow you to open the tri-fold.

    Good luck!
