One way do transport kayaks that I am looking at, is the trailer hitch style. I only have two kayaks so not bad. Not sure how many u have, but I think the hitch style will allow me to load/unload alone. I have a kayak that a little cumbersome to load up on top by myself with it being 12’.

I've had the same problem. I'm coming from an Xterra with a Thule rack with the collapsible j-hooks, I have a hobie quest which is not the most massive boat in the world, but do load it myself means overhead pressing it from the side of the truck, and with two boats on top its a huge pain getting the straps around the second one.

I had naively imagined that I'd get something like a TracRac and a folding tonneau cover without thinking through how the two would mount together- it looks like I do have some options but I'll have to be careful about which rack and cover I buy.

I assume that you'll be using a roof bar to support the bow end of the boats? If so, have you picked one? Also which hitch carrier are you thinking of?

Thanks in advance, this is a huge help as I need to get a cover pretty quickly and want to make sure I don't screw myself up :)
