    I've never owned a Toyota.
    and I wasn't looking for one either.
    anyways, this is now mine.

    Tacoma 4x4
    reg cab dlx
    automatic
    manual hubs
    73k miles 1 owner :amen:

    now then, I have gone from excited to sell it, to excited to build it.:sawzall:

    if anyone cares to lend opinions I would love to hear them.
    the truck is stock.
    with the exception of an aftermarket cassette player. :rofl:
    if I were to build it, the build will be geared towards crawling and long camping trips,
    and it does not need to be street legal or meet emissions. :burnrubber:

    After spending a couple weeks searching and researching alot of things, I've still got a couple of questions about my truck, but I will only ask about the Transmission in this post.

    3rzfe AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
    A340f <--- is this the correct transmission?
    anyone have any advice building the auto trans to handle a turbo, and 37" tires with a SAS:welder:
    or can you link me to some 4x4 taco builds wtih a built a340f?

    I think I would rather sell the truck and buy a manual than do the auto/manual conversion.

    Sorry if I am missing obvious threads, but I have found it difficult to find builds with auto the tranny.

    Ahhh, so when I still thought the truck was '98, I was thinking it was 'surfside green mica'
    I decoded the vin earlier tonight, and found that it's a '97 and the color code is 751 'evergreen pearl'

    1. In for the name.
    2. The attached FSM spec should help. Yes, it appears you have and A340. I had an 01 manual V6, so I never paid attention to this stuff. Also, decoding your VIN should tell you. I think there is info posted/stickied for that in the 1st gen forum.

    @StAndrew did a turbo, but he has a 5VZFE, I believe. He maybe be able to hook you up with some other more relevant turbo builds.
