Good to know, if I ever do mount one to my toolbox I'll have to remember to keep it at home unless I'm wheeling.

I retro-fitted the OEM 2nd gen bed rails to my truck, then purchased the All-Pro Hi-Lift Bed Rail System. I think it turned out pretty slick.

Looks good ! I'm planning to do the same with the 2nd gen rails. Do you happen to have the part number ? Also did you have to drill more holes ? Cause looking at mine it looks like I have some factory holes on the bed railing where that mounts up on

I picked up everything from Toyota of Dallas/TRD Parts for You. Here are the part numbers:

    • 1 x All Pro Hi-Lift Bed Mount - PN: 8220-AP-PC
    • 2 x Tacoma Short Bed Rail - PN: PT278-35100-SB
    • 4 x Bed Rail End Caps - PN: 66134-04010
    • 4 x Bed Cleat Tie Downs - PN: PT278-35112

I had to drill holes in the side of the bed lip, and then use low-profile fender fasteners to bolt the rails to the bed. Otherwise the cleats won't slide on the rails because the head of the bolt would interfere with the cleat.

The bed cleat tie-downs are optional. You don't need them to mount the All-Pro Hi-Lift mount, but they are handy for tying stuff down in the bed.

Finally, I had to fabricate some extra brackets for the Hi-Lift/All-Pro setup, because the jack would flex and flop when going over bumps. Eventually, it would have destroyed the bed side or the rails. I'll try to get more pics of the brackets I fabricated. They also required holes in the bed, and I used rivet nuts to bolt the bracket to the interior bedside.

I can't recall how many I used, but a bag of 10 should mount the rails fine. I think it was about 4 per side. You'll also need nuts and washers for the backside of the bolts. I just wanted to show you the low-profile stuff.
