I'm planning on getting sliders, will have to get a bottle jack as well once I lift the vehicle though.

Didn't your truck have a jack in it when ya bought it, or did I miss that part. If you have lifted it, start looking for some 4x4 Rembrandts on the side of the roads. Ya can cut down that and with your factory provided jack, you are good. Put the jack on top of the 4x4.

Yeah, it has a factory bottle jack although I doubt it would work well with increased height which is why I was thinking of getting a beefier bottle jack with a higher max height, or I suppose I could just mount the hi-lift in the bed area so I don't have to take it off whenever I'm not offroading.

Easier to haul around a 6", or so, piece of 4x4. Side note, I always buy he Harbor Freight tie downs on sale and when I see folks needing them it is super cool to be able to just give them the things. Kind of make me feel good for a little bit anyway.

Yeah I also haul around a couple of pin type jack stands so the 4x4a would work well with that and the factory jack I suppose, better thwn hauling the trail jack around with me everywhere

Post in your regional forum, go for a weekend "test out techniques" or ask about anyone who runs a course: https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/regions.36/

Also read the military specification that some in TW recommend:
    https://www.steelsoldiers.com/upload/misc/FM20-22.pdf

This is why you want to know proper methods, even if you do not have the winch yourself:

    Non yet.
jack.jpg Bottle jacks will work for recovery when high centered. Definitely need a solid base in dirt.

I've carried the same high lift in numerous offroad 4wd vehicles for nearly 45 years now, haven't been hit with the handle yet. And used numerous times..... I use a hooked wheel strap (they make nice ones now days) to lift and a jack stand to hold. Have always carried a steel stand for a frame support - or as a safety for the goofy factory screw jack. It doesn't take much of a suspension lift - or whacko terrain to make the little Toyota jack useless - pavement / parking lot use only.

Why do you need a new jack once you lift the truck?

Stock jack only easily reaches the truck at stock height. Raise those contact points higher, or be on terrain that posts part of the truck off-kilter, the you need a higher jack.

Also you may need to jack a part of the truck that is too low for any jack and you may need to dig down to get even the stock jack in.

Learn from those who have lived it. "Wise men learn from the mistakes of others".

I guess I don't understand fully about the lifted part. You pick up the rear with the axle tube so lift is completely out of the equation. And the front, assuming you don't have a drop bracket, will drop the suspension just as much as stock (the extended length of an aftermarket coilover is the same as a stock coilover). So just because you are starting jacking from a different height, the front tire will still come off the ground at the same time as a stock truck right?

Raise the suspension and the high-lift (also called "farm") jack may be required to have enough travel to do anything ... stock jack may be topped out just to touch the truck.

Off-road all bets are off. The front-passenger may dip low and the driver-rear is now too far off the ground for the stock jack ... a high-lift is needed to even touch the bottom of the truck on that corner.

As to "too low" ... a corner of the truck may need to be lifted but the tire has dropped off a small ledge. Even a short jack cannot fit under the truck so you need to dig dirt away to fit any jack.

Bottle Jack goes under my rear seat more functional than the stock jack and the highlift jack is mounted to the rail of the bed I have a short bed with a 60” jack for fitment reference.
