Has this ever happened to anyone?

I was installing my shiny new sliders by Dwreck (review forthcoming) and i was testing the strength of the slider using a brand new 48" hi lift and the handle snapped. I had the truck lifted slightly and had most of the weight on the jack but the tires not off the ground yet. About 3-4 pumps and all was moving smoothly... then snap!!!! It never even occurred to me that the jack would snap like this. Makes me wonder, did i just get a bad one?

Why is the reversing latch in the "raise" position if you were lowering the truck?

I may have mis-spoken. I raised the truck, lowered, and began re lifting from a different position on the slider. More towards the middle.

I got the truck down by using another hi-lift.

    Oh okay.

BGR is right though, that should not happen no matter what. Pretty crazy.

Hopefully it is not a defect. I just ordered the exact same unit 2 days ago.

I guess I had better test mine out, before I am up in the woods, 100 miles from town, at night, in the rain, and need it to change a tire or something!

Thank goodness it happened at home...

Did the pin on the handle break or did the casting actually break? If it is the casting then it is clearly a defect. If it is the pin, the is could still be a defect, but is more likely to just a damaged pin.

You don't really care, do you.
I would have shit myself if that thing broke when jacked up that high. I would have thought the jack was giving way in the first split second

If you look closely at the picture you can see that part of casting is rusted and the other half Is not. This leads me to believe that 1/2 of the cast broke during shipping, leaving me with only 1/2 to hold on to the pin that holds the handle in place. I bought it from amazon and they already replaced it free of charge.
