Nice truck bud. I also have a 2015 Sport. Notice you have a lift on it. I have always wanted a jacked up truck but in the little research Ive done Im concerned with the wear it will put on the differential, tranny, steering components, etc. Im new to all this so my knowledge is very limited. Do you believe is worth it in the long run? Im still debating it myself but am open to hearing any "justification" i can find to put a 6" lift on mine. A lifted Taco just looks so much better.

    Thanks Germexican!

It's my first Taco, but I've had trucks & jeeps most of my life. I think at the end of the day a lot of it comes down to the owner, usage, driving habits, preventive maintenance, etc. If you put a 6" lift and 35" tires on your Taco and then drive it like a Porsche through town and bury it to the frame in mud every chance you get, you'll have problems. If you don't stay on top of your maintenance, inspect your components regularly (or have a reputable 4X4 shop do it), look and listen for anything unusual when driving, etc., you'll have problems. You just have to keep in mind almost any kind of lift and/or increase in tire size is stressing your truck more than usual, so take extra care of it accordingly. Common sense stuff if you ask me, but just my opinion.

Hey Jeff how has your lift affected gas mileage? Did you have your gears adjusted?

I haven't done the math on gas mileage yet, but if I had to take a SWAG I'd say it's around 15 or 16 MPG. It's about what I got in my Tundra Crew Cab 4X4.

I haven't re-geared, but I've owned the truck less than a week. Not sure if I will or not. It gets me around town and down the highway fine as is, and I'm not into heavy off roading. I'll drive through some woods and fields during hunting season, maybe a little snowy driving in the winter, but that's about it.

If you dont mind me asking, what name brand lift kit did you go with? Did you go 6"? There are so many options. Do you have an opinion on the Old Man Emu suspension lifts?

The truck came from the dealer with a 6" Procomp lift, tires, wheels, exhaust system, and step rails. There are pros and cons to different lift heights and tire sizes. Frankly, I just thought the 6" lift with 35" tires looked the best, and I don't do a lot of heavy off roading, so not too worried about clearance, flex, rubbing, etc. (I don't have any rubbing during normal driving)

I have no opinion of OME lifts since I've never owned one, but they're obviously popular with many folks on these forums, so that tells me they probably have a pretty good product.

IMHO, since you already have the truck, you'd be best served finding a reputable 4X4 shop nearby, and just go in and talk to the guys about what you think you might want, what you can afford, and how you're going to use the vehicle. If they truly are a reputable business, they'll help you figure out what's right for you within your budget.

I bought mine already lifted because I wanted a new 2015 Taco anyway. I found a new one already lifted on a local lot cheaper than anyone around would build for me (with a similar setup) if I took a new stock truck to them.

Thanks bro. I love the color too and have wanted it for years. Had to travel a ways to find one in blue but well worth it. Its literally my dream truck. I want some toys on it and some suspension work done but really happy I finally have the truck! Happy to find this Toyota forum too. Alot of guys here have alot of good info for new guys such as myself.
