    Hello,
Glad to be here. I bought a 2016 tacoma double cab limited edition right off of a lease back in 2019 and have had zero issues until a few days ago.

the issue is with the transmission I believe. When I am driving in D mode it seems to make a sound that is consistent when your in a standard and your about to stall.. not sure the word for it but the truck is shaking a bit...

I feel in S mode it's much less apparent. Wondering if this is a normal issue and what it can be. The truck had 77k on it and like I said no transmission issues other than that and when I go downhill fast it likes to downshift at times which I'm actually ok with.

thanks for your help and sorry if this has been covered before! Im going on a long family trip soon and want to see what I need to do! Im not a handy guy either lol.

    thanks!
    Steve

Maybe due for a ATF change.

it's probably retarding timing. mine always acts wonky for a while after every weather change. the ecu is very sensitive to changes....due to the "AI"

What's retarding timing? How can you fix it? I'm assuming that word was misspelt lol

the ecu retards timing when it detects knocking. the usual fix is to use a higher octane fuel.

I would take it to the dealer and ask them to service the tranny if I were you. Also has it had the current TSB for the ecu ?

The downhill downshift is most likely the dfco (engine braking )
It’s also what does your engine braking when coasting

I have not had a TSB for the ECU. Is that like a recall and free or no? I bought it 2019 and so far have only had oil change every 5k miles, front breaks, and back tires replaced. No issues with Tran until a few days ago .

If It were me I would ask them to do a drain and refill and at the same time ask them to do the ecu update for your tranny tell them you’ve always had erratic shifting and didn’t know there was a TSB .They should flash it for free and at the same time they will reset all the values . Also with the drain and refill you will have fresh fluid running through the system which at 70 k is a good thing
