Okay so I have been looking for a tacoma truck for about a year now not in a rush to buy one but I need it to be my daily driving as I can't keep narrowing family cars even though I can I would like my own baby. Now I know tacoma is a strong reliable brand but I am looking for some advice from all of you I need this truck to last me 5-10 years without any huge problems. I want to be able to do the car oil changes and ect.

I live in San Diego so ice and all of that isn't really a issue I'm not really big into off roading but I would like the truck for surfing and some kayaking. I have been looking for a truck in my price range of about 13-18k. I really want to keep it under budget for any issues that might abrupt.

I have been looking at crag list but everything scares me there from the question of wether or not the trucks are rolled back since my buddy got a lemon which had 80k miles and actually had 180,900. So I looked at carmax and found this. What do you guys think any advice you can give me I have been looking at tacoma, ranger pretty much anything small and 2wd for my kayak and reliable everyday driving for the next 5-10 years.

If you're into kayaking and surfing it won't be long until you're into offroading, plus you made a tacoma world account which is your first mistake. I'd say go for a 4x4 instead of a pre runner. You won't regret it later on if you wanna take the truck out on the beach or need to unload the kayak in a location that's required 4x4.

What do you guys think about this truck also I fish in lakes but I see what your saying I would love a 4x4 but I can't really afford it. Maybe in the future or 10 years down the line I would get a 4x4 right now I just need a daily driving and if it also happens to carry a surf board or a kayak it's great. What do you guys think about this tacoma 2004 from carmax any red flags?

Get the pre runner tacoma for sure if you arent going 4x4. After putting in some fuel injector cleaner and octane booster I get on average 15 mpg, majority city driving. one thing to watch out for is frame rust, toyota sent out a notice on it. Mine is rust free fortunately so I didnt have to have toyota install a new one. But ya no Im pretty happy with it. I even do a little off roading, you shouls be fine driving to a lake in a pre runner

I looked at the photos, looks like the regular cab version of my year, is that an 04? Also take all the info listed and go to Kelly Blue Book to get an idea of what its worth; and expect to pay a little more because tacomas are so popular and regular cabs arent made anymore. However personally I would never buy from car max because of all the flooded cars they brought from Florida and resold. Not trust worthy to me

It is a regular cab and trust me I hate buying from carmax but the Kellyblue book value was like 15.5k for it so I mean at least I don't have to worry about rollbacks? I never knew they sold flooded cars I mean I would check the carfax. The price seems pretty high for 17,000. I wish I could haggle it down a bit but the 30,000 miles seems like a low amount on a tacoma.

Means you'll have to pay for the registration that's about to expire. Ask him how much is the registration/plates/tags whatever you wanna call it lol.

I'd rather have a friend with a manual teach me instead.
