Our vehicles do not have a canbus system. So technically any h11 hid kit will work. Some will tell you to run 11b bulbs, difference being where the top of the bulb is once locked into place. Kits with relays are usually better quality. These relays require power from the battery of your truck to work. The other style kit is plug and play, meaning it plugs directly into the plugs for your factory headlights. There is a couple threads on this stuff that will provide lots of entertaining reading. Try searching Morimoto Elite hid.

Pics? I've been debating on hid or led. But a 55w kit sounds tempting 5000k

Simple plug n play both from iJDMtoy.com and they usually have coupon codes too. No need for relay or canbus decoders. I got both low beams and fogs for only 130 and bought all my interior lights, reverse lights and license plate lights from them. Good stuff.

What kit did you purchase? Nice setup. Probably very similar for a '06?

It's iJDMtoy 35w kit. The link was in my other post as well as this one. I believe the 2nd gen bulb size are different since its bi-zenon but you can get those for an additional fee.

No worries, mines a '16 3rd gen but I know that 2nd gens are H4 for the low/high beam and fogs should be H10. Hope that helps.

It's actually really clear and I'm thoroughly impressed. HIDs are typically brighter than LEDs so if you are going for brightness, stick to these. Mine is 6000k. So far I haven't gotten high beamed from oncoming traffic so no adjustments made yet.

Looks very nice. I like it.
Did you get anyone shot back to you at night? Just worry about the light could be scatter.
Not decide to upgrade to HIDs or LEDs, any suggestions?

Thanks! I haven't had one person flash me back yet and I've been using them for over 4 months. I believe the light isn't as scattered as other headlights on previous tacomas because 3rd gen has a projector headlight assembly which HID works better in.

No relay just the ballast and harness that comes with it. I used heavy duty double sided tape to mount them.
