HID Relay Harness ?

    Well I havent failed yet but feel like Im going to. I just bought a set of bixenon (55w) h4's and (35w) h10's for my taco, gotem from DDM Tuning. I was told to get the relay harness just to be safe and so I ordered 2, one for the fogs and the other for the hi/low beams. I just got the set today and my question is, what does the relay harness actually do and does the hi/low controller come with one already? What does the relay harness plug into?

    My understanding is that the relay harness allows for you to draw power directly from the battery, does this mean that both my fogs and hi/lows should be connected to the battery with the harnesS?

    You dont need to worry about a harness for your fog lights. And you only need to use a harness if you are running bi xenons so yes you will need to use it for your headlights.

    I would put both on seeing you already have 2. The problem (well not really a problem) is the hids needs some juice to power up. Once they are lit, they are fine. The thinking is that the smaller OEM wiring is not really up to par for the addition juice needed. So there is a possibility of frying you wiring system. So you hook the harness onto the battery and then plug the harness into to the ballast. Kinda like running a power line off your battery to run your stereo amps.

    Good idea to use them. I think the hi/lo's from DDM come with a realy but I am not sure if it is the same one as they sell. Worst case if it is and you can't return it, keep it as a spare in case something happens to one.

    It is recommended but not necessary. I have never used them but that may just be luck.

    The relay harness is to protect your factory harness. Hook up the connections per labeled.

    Has nothing to do with running bixenons vs in the foglights. That's not where the problem is. The problem is as mentioned above, when they first fire up they draw a lot of current, which theoretically could fry your stock wiring harness. So this could happen with them in your lows, in your fogs, wherever. No difference. With the relay harness, your HID's get power directly from your battery rather than through your factory harness.

    As mentioned, people run HID's without a relay harness and have had no problem. Me personally, I'd never do it, especially with how cheap the relay harnesses are. Cheap insurance IMO.
