Back in June i purchased some HIDs for my truck and i got the 6,000K bulb. I don't mind the blue tint that the bulb has, but i want a little brighter bulb. I have been looking at the 5,000K bulb which is the brightest that i have found. My question is: If i want to switch the 6,000K bulb to the 5,000K bulb, do i need to buy an entirely new kit or can i just purchase the bulb by itself and replace it?

    Any help would be grateful
    :D

You should just be able to buy new bulbs.

You can buy just the replacement bulbs, I would go with 5000K. I have had good luck with DDM products.

Correct, and I have tried 4300, 5000, 6000 at 35 watts... this is in 8" Hella 4000 off road racing lamps.

I find 5000K the whitest/ brightest color of those three. I did notice a bit of yellow in the 4300s, and the 6000s were way way too blue (some said they looked like 8000K).

5000K was a perfect blend. However, mine are 'cheap' Chinese bulbs from GG Lighting and the light 'moves' or flickers after they warm up... As long as they don't fail, I can live with that.

call trs they carry every configuration of hid bulbs and their morimoto bulbs are of much better quality than anything else save for oem and depending on which oem bulb you choose they can be 2 to 4 times as expensive! 5k for light and color should be your choice don't go above that color temp if you want the brightest light.
