On the top of the white clip there are 2 small tabs that stick out to hold it in place. Push them in using a small screw driver or a pick with a curved end to release them instead of taking the whole clip off. Its much easier that way.

thanks ross ill give that a try prolly need a couple people for it tho huh.
ross just checking so when i get the reflector bowl off i drill a 2.5" hole with a hole saw then dremal another square hole for the selenoid then dremel a couple spots down on the outside of the shroud for a tighter fit but dont glue it on yet. is this right so far am i missing anything?
then i place the projector inside the reflector bowl and drill the four holes out? but how do I know where to mark the holes to drill is it very important where i drill these?
    Thanks

I found this to be easier. Just place the screwdriver underneath it.

Make sure you unscrew the adjustment screws so they are almost out. Makes it easier.

quick question for the pro's out there....... is there a guide of something i can use so i know that the projectors are aligned horizontally? how far apart are the steps supposed to be at say 25 ft?

Im in progress and have no idea what to do. they are level, whichwas easy, but i just dont know how spread out the steps should be..... mine look kinda far.

1 - use the horizontal lines in the reflector for a guide, they are horizontal in relation to the truck. then its just a matter of testing them on the truck. DO NOT make any permanent connections before you test, as you will most likely have to do some minor adjustments.

2 - they are supposed to be the same distance apart as your headlights, at 25ft, 50 ft, and even 20000 ft!

ok, one last question..... the red wires that come from the projector itself..... how do you know which one is positive and negative? i have tried both ways and cannot seem to get the high beams to work at all.....

polarity doesnt matter for those wire, which is why they are both red.

i hooked up a 9V when i tested mine, but 12V will work as well, as this is what it will be getting when properly wired in the truck.

you do know that those wire are connected to a solenoid that simply drops the cutoff shield right? you will be able to hear it drop if your holding it in your hand, or see it drop if you look into the projector from the bulb end.

^ if the light turns off when you flip the highs then you have it wired wrong. the ballasts are no longer powered basically when you flip the highs the way you have it wired. when the highs are turned on, the low wire is no longer powered. check out a positive switched H4 wire setup from google or HIDplanet if you need to see an actual diagram.

if your using TRS harness, those red high wires should have been soldered to the only pigtail not connected to anything when you received the harness.

Ya I am using the trs harness and the harness has the 2 open pigtails but one is black and one is red.... And I tries it both ways and it just shuts off. The only way it could be wired wrong is if trs dis it wrong on the projector.... It's weird. I'll try to get a pic up. It's strange.

^ yea, if its TRS harness, everything should be good to go? not being dumb, bur are you sure everything is wired up correctly? i have never heard of anyone having a problem w/ the harness when connected properly.

No it's totally cool. I'm positive it's wired correct but I'll check it just in case. Ijust don't see where else those pigtails could go. All the other connections have a designated plug so I don't know how it could be wrong. Though I it were possible, I'm sure I could figure a way lol.

allright Yosh, So i went out and looked at all the wires and everything and tested it and what is happening, like you said, is when i flip the high beams on the ballast looses power.... thus it must be a connection in the harness correct? the low beams have power of course, but as soon as i flip on the highs, the humming from the ballast goes away.

edit: figured it out..... my high fuses were blown, lol.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but awesome job on the retro Electronman. Can you tell me how you went about aiming the projectors before securing them into the reflector bowls? That's the only part I'm really not sure about and I'm planning to start my retro next week. Thanks for any advice you can offer!
