I know this has been discussed heavily but has a solution every been found? I just sent my headlights off for the BHLM and I wonder if it's something that can be addressed while it's opened up. I've been running the Morimoto HID kit in the stock projectors and the 'shake' has gotten progressively worse with time.

Yep, solution found....If you’re going through the trouble of having your lights opened to do that, may as well have made for HID projectors dropped in too. That would be a solution.

An expensive solution but I'm leaning towards the RX350 swap. I haven't had any issues with the cutoff on the stock projectors but the 'shake' is obnoxious.

I've run cheap Amazon kensun brand hid's in factory 2017 projectors and have no hid shake, or flicker. And cutoff and beam are both perfect for me.

Out of curiosity, you use those with a battery relay or plugged straight into the ballast/igniter from the factory harness? Any wiring issues?Wondering if anybody running aftermarket hid had any issues doing that

Honestly I don't remember but I think they are straight plug in, no relay, I know the ones in my Camry are straight plug in, I've used these hids in every vehicle I've had since my 2008 titan and never had any issues

For a year, I've been running HIDs that cost half of what Morimoto does, and I have zero shake whatsoever.

Are the HID’s too hot and wearing down the O ring gaskets and such?

That’s kind of what I was thinking since it’s gotten worse with time. When I reached out to TRS about the issue, they seemed to think it was an issue with the projector assemblies in the Tacoma. I think I’m going to end up going with the RX350 retrofit to fix the issue.

I have a relay installed on my set up. It’s easy to run the cables and provides some relief that you won’t damage the factory wiring.

I have my doubts it is the assembly.

What I would like to know is the temp the stock halogens produce versus the 35w HID.

Surely someone has data on that.

Maybe...just maybe...the o-ring does get hot and flexes more when heated. Someone could take an o- ring to a auto shop and match the size to see if it remedies it *or* a double o-ring if there's room .

As some have said their cheaper ones doesn't shake could have a larger /thicker o-ring so it may NOT be a housing issue.

If this does fix the problem , get a o-ring from an engine shop since it resists all sorts of heat and liquids. If you can a Viton o-ring in that size, even better. These things have a range of 400deg.

Just note...if it is a tight fit, rub a little Vaseline on the o-ring, don't get any on the bulbs! I only use Viton o-rings when I rebuild my engines. It has never failed.
