The first option wasn’t an option in 2017 when I did the second option. Those Morimoto HIDs are nice. Pretty simple install. I had no issues but I sold the truck 18 months later.

I also wanted the pro LED headlights but I’m not willing to go over budget. I just bought morimoto HID kit that came out to 175 doll hairs… just arrived today actually.

From the site... "HID and LED bulbs are street legal in the USA for Fog Light use only. Not compliant with DOT / FMVSS108 and not street legal in the USA for Headlights."

Not that this stops any of us from doing many things to our beloved rides. But for headlights, I'd submit there's a little more common sense to it.

The low price is because the retrofit is an HID bulb going into a stock halogen reflector. The cutout will be nonexistent or wrong. A "proper" retrofit would replace the reflector with a projector and that's why it's expensive.

You're going to light up the night, but you're also going to catch a few middle fingers. And you may get nervous every time you drive up on or pass a cop at night. Ask me how I know.

I have the same set on the 4Runner. Which is why I just ended up getting the same set for the Tacoma. I’ll post pictures and update you when it’s done.

So, I had to use some scrap metal to make my own brackets and could’ve adjusted a few things to make it look neater but I’m lazy. It’s hot outside.

I could’ve made the bracket shorter to make it closer to the battery bbuuuut like I said, lazy. I started off doing the install but then my bf kind of took over the project. Either way, takes a bit of time but it’s way brighter than the LED bulbs I had in there.

Here’s a few pictures I took along the way. I drill any extra holes anywhere and used existing holes. Lots of zip ties and pretty much followed the video.

I was going off this video on YouTube when I started off
    https://youtu.be/mTPNeYmS61Y

For now, I will stick with these until I get the chance to actually fork over the 1600 for the PRO LED headlights.

@ToyoTX85 I should have gone with the 5500k HIDs but I went with the 6000k and they’re a little too blue but what’s done is done lol

The Retrofit Source has been really good with exchanges for me. If it's just the bulbs, it might be worth the call to them.

I don’t like returning or exchanging stuff lol I just deal with it and change it out whenever something breaks.

Definitely your call. If I noticed they were a little bluer than I'd like now, I'd die a little every time I flipped the lights on.

The HID bulbs in my 2017 were perfect. The cut lines were perfect and nobody ever flashed my truck. I’d have to double check but I believe I had the 35W 3800K HID bulbs.

They were a hell of a lot better than all of the factory led vehicles on the road now. Clearly NOBODY is enforcing any DOT regulations on the streets in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

    @Apple Jacks oh I’m a survivor lol I won’t die bc of that. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.
@CrispyTacoLover i don’t think anybody enforces DOT stuff either in El Paso. And my local PD in Sunland Park NM doesn’t do shit…

The first time I put LED bulbs in, I installed them upside down. I didn't realize it until I was driving at night, couldn't exactly pull over and flip them then and there. I was cringing every time somebody was in front of me.
