    Slim,

I am curious how these lights can work in a stock housing? Without a projector lens the light emitted from an HID bulb will wash all over the inside of the housing and emit light in all areas instead of directed toward the road. Every vehicle that is equipped with true HID housings (BMW Lexus Mercedes) has these bulbs in a projector to direct the light.

Without a projector lens in front of these bulbs the light emitted will not be directed correctly....

I am interested in the buy as well but this makes no sense to me with a stock housing??

    Thanks!

I will probably be in on this but like someone else said I just played in the Weathertech GB and it cost me nearly $300.00 so I will have to build up the wallet again.

Question about the fogs.. I was thinking of ordering the 3000K for my fogs.. Do you think that would be a good idea? Does the yellow help driving in the snow? How bright are they actually? Thanks.

Oh ps i ordered some from the last group buy. Stoked on them! My only complaint is that I didn't order the fogs first go around!

I hear ya! I have been self employed for the past 5 years. Some times are good some times are bad. Just gotta keep on rollin! :)

The conversion kits come with reflector shields on them to emit the light downward toward the road. There have been Mercedes that have HID lights without the projectors. Yes the new version of using projectors is better but that comes with a lot of retrofitting of the housings. The light pattern will be similar to the halogens but a ton brighter for greater visibility. You aren't going to get the projector beam pattern that comes with projector lenses. I hope I answered your questions clearly if not let me know.

Lol I hear you. Most people that get the heads want the fogs after. The 3k is good for fog. I don't know about snow but I would assume it would be good in those conditions as well. Hopefully somebody on here that lives in snow can chime in. I live in California so no snow here.

I might be in on this. Can somone answer me a couple questions though.
    1) What is the difference between the normal and slim digital ballast?
    2) 6K seems to be the popular temp. not sure what that means but does it mean the brightness of the light. I assume it has something to do with the color spectrum in a way.
    3) Is there a link to these light I can look at I don't like buying things just because they are popular. I rather buy it because it fits my needs?
This forum is bad to many useful items in here to buy.

    Thanks for the answers.

    1. The normal ballast is the older design that most companies use. The new Slim ballast is the new design which is more stable, lighter, much smaller, last longer and all around just a better design.
    2. Yes 6k is by far the most popular. It is one of the brightest temperatures and whitest. Next brightest would be 4300K but that has a yellow tint to the light compared to the 6000k which has a light blue tint.
    3. There are a couple links to view the kits etc on the first post of this thread. One is a write up showing you all the parts and the other is my photobucket showing pictures of the different bulbs etc.

    Thanks!

One problem I get bogged down by all the information and opinions on what works and what doesn't work. Usually they look for trends and block that site. So I have to watch how much time I spend on here. Big brother is always watching. Another precaution because of the Freedom of information Act and since 9/11. Sorry for the off topic post. Just gave me a good chuckle.

Lol I used to work at an office that blocked stuff and would go to a website that would reroute the url through the site. I am sure your job is much more strict and has that stuff blocked. Not to say you should be working anyway! :p

SHould be working, but more fun reading the information on here!! It is called multi tasking. Nothing beats the SIPRNET restrictions of Iraq. I am still torn between getting these lights and now I found projector housings and lights decent price. I may just go with them instead. Or save money to do the suspension first. What to do first. What a money pit I have purchased. Can't wait for warm weather to start working side jobs for extra cash.

Nice I would recommend the 6k. They are brighter than the 8k and still have a little blue to them. As for the fogs thats personal preference. You can either match with the heads or do 3k for like fog etc.

Damn boots are that much $! My wifes dad is a firefighter too. How long have you been working in the dept?

Are the slim ballasts necessary for the fogs too?

Any pictures of trucks with just the headlights done (not the fogs)?

I'm going to purchase the heads (H10) but am not sure about the fogs just yet.

$230 to do the whole thing.....hmmmmm?????

Click the CabelTec write up. I believe there are photos of the heads and fogs lit up. The slims are necessary in my opinion for any setup. They are a better ballast. The heads aren't H10 they are H4 Bixenon just an FYI so you don't order the wrong bulbs.
