For those who installed a behind the grill hidden light bar, how much has the grill distorted or ruined the light output?

I'd got a pairbof SS5's behind my grille currently. I wired them up prior to install, took them on a country road, put on in the mount behind the grille and held the other in front of it. Visually it's a pretty big impsct, I'd guess 50% or so of the output is blocked. Beam pattern is much fuzzier. Also depends on what grille you have, but even something like an aftermarket grille with a wire mesh is going to block 20%+ of the light. I would attempt to mount the lights cantilevered forward/flush with the outside of the grille and trim the grille to fit if I was doing this long term. But this is only until I get my bumper mounted up.

I’m running a light bar mounted behind the grill on my second gen. Not sure how much is blocked because I never ran it in front of it, but I do know that there is plenty of light going forward, but as expected the sides are definitely cut off. Still, it works great paired with a set of ditch lights and fog lights.
