Is that where the HVAC system draws its air? If so, I would recommend a different location. If not, just ignore me :D

    A thing or two...
I'd cut through, so it can draw with less restriction.

The rectangle on the right side of his photo is the fresh air intake for the AC. People that have done this on the V6 report increased intake noise coming through there and decreased AC flow due to the engine pulling more air than the AC can. Rigging up a partition to separate the AC and engine draw fixes it.

It's just another way to make a snorkel. It moves the point of air draw higher for being able to cross deeper water.

Oh i didnt think about that, good point. But i didnt end up cutting through, i got the second 90 degree pvc and angled it upward. Hopefully that helps a little more than just the hole

I have a ScanGuague 2 and its been reading the same air intake temp and havent had any problems yet. I may remove the fender again but it took me forever to get the thing off an back on

That looks pretty unique. Just don't go through water that might splash over the hood, or your snorkel might turn into a guzzle.

Maybe run the hidden snorkel into the cab under the dash? At least that way you will know for sure if the water is getting too high.

If you're trying to cross water even remotely close to that depth, you've got wayyyyyyyyyyy bigger problems than where your air intake is located!

I know this is old but wondering if anyone else has tried it and if it's loud or not.
