I know that a hidden winch wont completely fit in the bumper of a 1998-2000 Tacoma but I was hoping someone had attempted it and if so how much did they have to cut away and what did their mounts look like?
any help would be great thanks!

Best i could do was a hidden front reciever\winch mount withthe 98-00 and it was hard enough getting it tucked behind all that plastic

Ok thank you. I would buy a winch bumper but being a student, budget is a major factor. I may just end up welding on what you did.

I opted to build my own because the store branded front recievers mounted way too low and severley hurt approach angles, the only mounting points were where the factory tow hook bolts are and they just seemed chincy for the $200 they cost.
On the one i built it mounts to the factory tow hook points, to the bolt holes on the ends of the frame horns, horizontally through the fram and through the body mount above the frame.
It was super stout, i winched a grand cherokee buried up to the rockers out of a river with it.
