    Did you pick up the steel version? That’s what I mean to say is, why is everyone making these low pro bumpers in steel? Is there an advantage over aluminum? I’m honestly asking what’s the pros and cons?

    I kinda see the low pro bumper mainly as a way to mount a winch / light bar and I guess mainly for looks since you can pretty much do all of that behind the stock front end.

    Is there an actual function to be found in a low pro bumper?

    Side question, my father in law’s ranch has a bump gate that you open by nudging open with the front of your truck. Would the bull bar on these be able to handle that without flexing into the grill? Both steel or aluminum?

    Really love these low pro bumpers. Just a bit concerned of not having the protection a full front bumper offers. Haven't upgraded the shocks yet, so i may just got this route.

    It also gives you two strong recovery points tied into the frame. It really only offers protection from hits in that area, obviously if you hit a rock or whatever on the sides it would mess up the plastic bumper, but a direct hit the steel will hold up better. As for the gate you asked about, that would depend on so many factors, like how tall it is and where it hits on the truck vs which bumper you go with and if you do the bull bar option as well. I bought mine because I don’t need a full bumper (or the weight) and I wanted recovery points and a place for a winch. The added “protection” and light bar placement were a bonus for me.

    Just tried this again and have the following listed on my order:
    Bumper (Aluminum, bare with hoop) = $950
    20% off = -$190
    Fixed Shipping Charge = $120
    Handling = $100
    Total = $980

    Tried this on a steel bumper and still had a $100 handling charge. I like this bumper, but not worth the $120 shipping and $100 handling fee.

    The SSO with a 20" Heise bar doesn't cost 1016, it also weights about 75 lbs

    I asked SSO and they wouldn’t guarantee it but they believe that the Baja rebates would apply to a light ordered with a light. That means you can get the bumper and light 15% off and either $75 (20”) rebate or $150 (30”) rebate for the Baja designs S-8.

    $1160 for an SSO bare with and 30” BD light seems like a good deal. Now I just have to figure out what suspension improvements to make to keep my stock OR level.

    With the SSO and an 80lb winch my OR only dropped .5" on stock suspension

    MGM--- You had me scratching my head again so I went and did an aluminum model with hoop. With 120 shipping it came to 880. Not sure why when you look to check out you see another charge? You may be best to just call them as no 100 fee is added...

    EDIT!!.....Noticed your location..think its a West Coast bump for shipping?

    You're running 700 lb kings now... right? Did you run them at stock OR height? Or did you preload them for lift?

    The West Coast shipping might be it. If that is the case, it still seems excessive with others shipping similar steel bumpers for $49.

    @C4 Fabrication any chance of coming out with an aluminum version. Why did y’all choose steel for your design?

    I just ordered mine, and yes, there is a handling fee, kind of a bummer IMO.:rant: My guess is to advertise a $550 base price.:jerkoff: The only reason I went SOS instead of C4 is because they offer the line X or powder coating option. I am on the west coast too, but they are already charging $120 flat rate. C4 is $99.00 :notsure:

    You can get the Warn hidden winch mount on eBay for $600 as it’s always in stock. Listed for $700 and save about $100 on the next 15% off sale. Already powder coated and free shipping.

    Or Summit Racing on their next sale.

    No plans to make an aluminum version. We prefer working with steel.

    I installed the Warn bumper and Smittybilt x20 winch. I did no cutting or trimming. The plastic they are referring to are the two vertical shrouds that direct air toward the radiator. You don’t need to trim them unless you mount your control box over the motor. And even then you can just remove them. They really serve no purpose. I ran my truck in frigid New England winters and in the summertime at Anza-Borango desert when it was 104 degrees. Never had any issues. Caliraised has you remove them when you install the behind the grill light mounts. My opinion the Warn bumper is extremely sturdy. I had a 2016 Tacoma so no TSS I think the Warn hoop might cause a problem for those that have TSS as it might block the sensor array.

    There is a company in Vancouver BC that specializes in aluminum winch mounts, skids and sliders. The ship anywhere in the US. Shipping is reasonable, and they make a quality product that weighs around 40-50lbs. And if you live in CA they don’t charge sales taxes.

    Before I order one of these. Someone please educate me. What are the pros and more importantly the cons of winch access holes.

    Access to power on and the free spool lever without opening the hood. I’m not a fan of the access holes, just as easy to open the hood and reach down, plus you can get remote power now.

    They do serve a purpose if you off road a lot and using the winch on a regular basis.
