I considered the trusty Zastava M92 UF for when I have more room than in my current hot hatch, but I don't want to have to submit a 5320.20 periodically to cover every time I might cross a state border. Obviously crossing south into MA is not an option with any firearm.

I recently saw a headrest safe. just put it on the passenger side seat... i'm not sure if it's available model/upholstery specific to match your truck.

Not that I'm condoning the practice.

Seriously, what is the reason to hide it? If the vehicle is unoccupied, please don't leave a gun inside. IMO guns should even be locked in a safe when in your home. They make safes that you can access your weapon in 5 seconds.

If you have to store it temporarily in your vehicle, a console safe or maybe a cable lock through the trigger guard or breech and looped around the steel seat supports under your seat.

Please be safe and not one of the people that helps supply all the criminals with guns.

With the front seat jackers, under the seat is perfect.

I opted to carry AIWB (12 O'clock). This gives me access to the firearm even when belted. I also avoid the awkward look around to make sure nobody sees me stuff a gun in my pants.

When I need to enter a secured building, it goes into the lockable glove compartment. For larger weapons, I got the Hooke Road behind the seat lockbox if I plan on keeping them in the truck.

Whatever you plan on doing, make sure you're complying with your State's laws.

OP neglected to say what state he's in. Unfortunately transporting a firearm in the console safes that I linked is illegal in Californiastan unless you have a CCW.

As long as it's unloaded it appears at first glance to be legal.

Pursuant to California Penal Code section 25610, a United States citizen over 18 years of age who is not prohibited from firearm possession, and who resides or is temporarily in California, may transport by motor vehicle any handgun provided it is unloaded and locked in the vehicle’s trunk or in a locked container.

However, the penal code says that glove compartments and utility compartments (which a center consul is) are not considered locked containers and it's a fairly hotly debated topic whether or not a vault inside the console would be ok. As far as I know, there is no settled law or DOJ opinion and I wouldn't want to be the test case.

"Pursuant to California Penal Code section 16850, the term "locked container" means a secure container that is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, key lock, combination lock, or similar locking device. This includes the trunk of a motor vehicle, but does not include the utility or glove compartment."

Sure is awesome how there are grey areas that are open to interpretation and could result in a felony...

I'll take your word for it. Looks to me like a locked console safe perfectly fits this description. It's pretty amazing this has never been litigated.

Other than at an airport, just keep it on you, concealed. The same as criminals do, especially because criminals do. It'll be fine. No one gets randomly searched at work or for parent teacher conferences. Plenty of people conceal in Class A establishments. Nothing bad will happen if you & your gun save lives at the post office.

Im pretty confident that in all states that a person obtains a carry permit, there's some verbiage about it being in a holster attached to ones body. But do as you see fit. And the fact that police being terrible marksmen is debatable . Being involved in a real world exchange of gunfire, I would think effect ones marksmanship. Good luck.

Thats only for concealed carry, storing a gun in your vehicle does not fall under concealed carry laws, like open carry.

That’s part of the issue…each state varies so much when it comes to these laws. It’s walking a fine line though to have a federal law on guns and carrying/transporting/storing. I know I’m Washington there is debate on if it has to be on your person or not…I’ve been stopped while carrying and the officers didn’t care that the firearm wasn’t on me physical person or in a holster.

Thank you for the job you did as a “copper”. It’s one career field so many want to critique after the fact but call the officers out to protect them. Much respect to you sir!

Thanks. I bought the multi mount panel and was going to mount one there too, but wasn't sure how I was going to mount it to the panel. I may end up adding a similar bracket for mine.

Yup, I have a CC and I always keep it on me in the car, so there is no doubt that I was concealed carrying it, and not transporting it and needing to comply with whatever laws apply to transporting a firearm.

I won’t comment too much but close is all that matters.

And as far as the comment about the keeping it in a gun safe at home and that it can be opened in 5 seconds…you don’t know who is coming through the door….5 seconds is a lifetime or a lifetime lost. Unless you train for years to instantly identify and respond to a presented threat your brain is still ??? in those 5 seconds. Keep it close not nearby.
