Keep in mind, an arc gives off RF as well. I would suspect that the bulbs in a housing not designed for them would have some interference properties as well.

Could you just cover the Ballast in foil. If it makes it any better then find some wire mesh and cover them in that. BTW many experiments are done in a feriday(sp) cage. It is a cage made of brass wire mesh which blocks almost all radio signal.

Not something I'm willing to do, that would look stupid (IMO) and it would be too much trouble for what it's worth. But thanks for the suggestion.

I'll have to read up on those, thanks!

I to have the same issue when I turn on my fog light HID's. The Morimoto's I have for the headlights do not interfere at all though so only the fogs do it. I havent tried anything yet cause I dont listen to the radio very often but I would like to get the issue resolved cause it does get annoying.

You should be fine with the mori ballasts cause thats what I have and they dont cause an issue at all. Also my previous set of HID's for my headlights did not cause any issues with the reception as well. For some reason its only the fogs.

Good to know, I might try this. Does it matter how much foil you use or no?

Mori's in some Hellas cause the same problem, none other HIDs do, (fogs, retro headlights). I just pop in a CD or DVD or hook up my iPhone. Radio around hear sucks anyways...

I get this action with AM radio with my halo headlights with just parking light halos on. I have gen2 ccfl halos so they were plug-n-play. I did no wiring for them. My HID fogs without relay harness doesn't make it any worse. Just an AM thing, FM/CD/MP3/USB is unaffected.
