So I just noticed a ring wearing on my inner CV boots. My truck only has 6000 miles. I have a 3" lift (extended kings). I took the diff drop out because it didn't seem to change the angle very much (see second pic). It was in the way of my TRD pro skid.

Anyone using these high angle CV boots on their 3rd gen? They don't list 3rd gen.

    Any others? Thanks.

This doesn't really answer your question, but on my truck I snipped off the clamps, slid the boot down like 3/4" and tightened a hose clamp on it.

:notsure: To be perfectly honest I haven't double checked it. It's less of a worry for me, since my trucks an 05 and I noticed the rubber had a bunch of micro cracks on it, meaning it'll fail eventually. When it fails it fails and I'll fix it then.

Is it possible to loosen the OEM clamp, slide and re-tighten?

You COULD undo it and reuse it but I'd have more peace of mind with a hose clamp.

Here's what I've done: remove the oem clamps... slide the boot out until the fins don't touch... install norma slim hose clamps. Time will tell if they slide back, but so far so good.

I guess what you also do is install another hose clamp directly on the shaft fairly close to the boot and then use a beefy zip tie to secure the clamp that is on the boot (likely with some grease under it) to the more secure hose clamp. Use it like an anchor.
