    Hey all,

Hooked up Morimoto XB headlights to my 2023 Tacoma. Mine came with OEM LED headlights so i had to use an adapter harness from Morimoto that they made for their XB headlights to OEM LED tacomas.

Everything is figured out and fine except for the high beams. Every connection is matching color wires (black to black, brown to brown, blue to blue, etc) but the high beams are the only ones that do not, as they hook up black to red and red to black. Subsequently, they are the only connection giving me issues.

They will work for a moment, but then both the 10Amp fuses burn out. What could be the solution to this? Reached out to Morimoto but haven’t heard back yet. Trying to see if i’m messing something up.

    IMG_0663.jpg

The white side is from the headlight, and the black side from the harness. Both are the high beam connections.

    IMG_0659.jpg

For reference, here are the low beams. The grey 3 prong connection with yellow white black is likely the side markers. The turn signals use a single prong, blue wire.

    IMG_0666.jpg

These are the connections left dangling. The bottom black 4 prong didn’t hook up to anything from the harness. The grey 3 prong female came hooked up to the grey 3 prong male (both from the headlight harness) and once i detached it and connected it to the black 3 prong female from the adapter harness (as seen in the back of the picture of the low beam connection) then the side markers worked. The single prong was hooked up to the other single prong with blue wire from the headlight side (i think if you leave them connected it keeps the turn signals flashing, i hooked it up to the harness single prong connector instead so i can have sequential pattern). And lastly, i’m not sure what that 2 prong grey male does. I don’t believe it hooks up to anything in their adapter harness.

Thanks all and appreciate any help i can get.

Yes but point being is there is a latching clip on one side. Based on the orientation, you can’t connect red to red and black to black. The white connector won’t latch to black one when trying that.

Leave it OFF and test. If the fuses stay un-crisped let us know.

Seems they "provided" an any type harness.

So you are saying that you changed the OEM LED headlights to Morimoto---or that your headlights have LED DRL's?

This is the OEM LED headlight assembly vehicle side connector:

Are you sure you don’t have the drivers and passenger side adapter harness mixed up?

I remember when plugging in my xb’s that I got confused for a few minutes and then disconnected and reconnected the wires and it figured it out.

Just tested it holding the connector upside down, so that it is red to red and black to black. works just great now, and the fuses are fine.

So what would you recommend? My only thought it cut the tab off and super glue it to the opposite side. Must be a QC issue. I checked and driver/passenger harnesses are the same thing.

But is the connector on the red and black wires on that side the same as the other side?

The connector can be unassembled and then reassembled correctly. Lots of YouTube videos on it.

They don’t include anything about the harness for vehicles that came stock equipped with OEM LED headlights. Neither did the adapter harness.

Will get to that eventually. For now, I’m lazy and don’t have the tools so I just taped em tight together with electrical tape.

    Thank you for your help!

It's easy, look inside the connector, it has a locking tab that needs to be held down in order to remove the terminal (pin).

I guess that went right over my head in the original post. You swapped the stellar OEM LED enclosures and bulbs for something else.

    Fantastic decision.

Having the same issue. Can’t find any instructions anywhere. How did you make out? Did you swap the red and black wire?

You removed the OEM LED lights and installed aftermarket LED lights?
