i have a 2017 4x4 off road and this high chirping noise recently started to happen while accelerating, sounds like it's around the engine driver side. It also seems to only happen when the engine is warm and after driving for a bit. tested it this morning and the noise was gone until i drove for about 5 miles and it started to happen again. no check engine or anything and i tired to scan it but it couldn't pick up anything. any suggestions ?

i looked up threads and seems there's a lot of different noises in the "chirping/whine" category

Ujoints , belts , a/c .. etc but the noises seems different from what i'm getting idk

I got a recall letter for the fuel pump im actually getting it changed this tuesday so hopefully thats the problem. ive seen other threads on the fuel pump and serpentine belt its a similar sound but on some videos it constantly makes the noise even without accelerating you think its cause mine just started?

Mine was doing that but much louder. I actually took it back to the dealer. They changed the serpentine belt to an upgraded belt that Toyota sent them. The service manager explained to me that I'm the 3rd truck they have had this year so far with this complaint.
He told me that they are compiling a list nation wide and if it becomes more prevalent then Toyota will put out a recall.
I had to pay for the service but if the noise comes back then they know it's one of the pulley's and my warranty will cover it.

Sounds similar to my issue. They changed the belt first. No dice. Then they changed my idler pulleys, both I believe. Seems to have done the trick and covered under warranty. I noticed there was a quieter whine I'd still hear around 2-2.5k RPM but am told that is expected. Something to do with the air system I think? It's harder to detect and trigger so I'm not concerned about it. Also audible in a different location, this time below the truck. Almost right under the driver seat, sounded like.

Got probably the same thing going on. Just started noticing the chirping/squealing noise while driving and it happens around higher RPMs when accelerating while pulling out from park or stop. The noise stops when it eventually changes gears at higher speeds... I decided to do a test while my truck is parked in the driveway and this is what happens. Don't mind the actual birds in the background but you can hear the chirping/squealing noise more clearly on the last part of the video. I bought this truck used at the end of February this year with around 33k mileage and its over 35k now. No idea what is happening but I can only think of slipping

Def similar to the sound im getting. Is this after a drive? or straight from starting the car? mine seems to not happen until a few miles of driving for some reason

this was after about an hour of pulling in from a 15 minute drive from work. I'll have to test it out tomorrow morning to see if it still does the same thing but my guess is that it wouldn't be any different

Serpentine belt or idler pulleys. It happens to my truck when the weather hits 95+ degrees and gets worse/louder as it gets hotter outside.

makes sense, it's getting around the 80s and 90s around here although ill have to test it when the weather gets cooler again. what will we have to do in order to stop it?

If you’re not sure, squirt water on the idler bearing, see if it quiets down.

Nice to see it’s not just me hearing things. Seems like the weather getting warmer is bringing this out for a bunch of people. I hate taking my truck to the dealer cause it’s just a huge pain - thinking of attempting this myself. Seems straightforward enough. Has anyone else attempted/done the change themselves?

UPDATE: tested it out. It is 0830am and 77 degrees outside (as per truck temp). No noise whatsoever. It does seem like it might do it when it gets hotter by the day or when my engine has been heated up from driving

I’ve had mine at the dealer 3 times for this each time they claim they can’t duplicate it. Now it out of warranty I bet they would gladly figure it out. It always did it when temp was 50degrees or warmer. I figured it was a pulley. I tried belt spray and that did nothing. I just turn the radio up!

My belt was only really squealing when hot. There's a TSB on these belts. I got mine replaced but had to jump through hoops because they didn't hear anything, but when I went to pick it up it was loud as hell again.

this is what I’m afraid of. I have an appointment with the stealership set for Tuesday to get the belt and possibly pulleys changed. Had a drive at around 2 today and had the AC on the whole way and heard the noise the whole way. Drove home at 530 with the windows down and couldn’t get the truck to make the noise even when I got home after the 20 min freeway drive.
Afraid it will be hard to replicate at the dealership and I’ll get nothing done

I get a loud chirp noise on full load pulling on the freeway and slight stumble it's been a thing on All my 3rd gen Tacoma's only when I accelerate from about 25-40 mph, and it doesn't happen every time and I don't normally floor it getting on the interstate.

might have to try that approach, hopefully this dealership does something with it
