So I am in the market for a high clearance rear bumper. Been looking at all the options, but still haven't been able to determine which companies' swing out tire gate is easiest to remove and re-install? I'd like to stay away from the ones that are a PIA to remove/re-install. Any advice from those who are running High Clearance Rear Bumpers is much appreciated!

Buy Pelfreybilt. Removing the gate is possible, but not encouraged.

I like the pelfreybuilt for sure. Brute force is at the top of my lost too. ATO is simple and cheaper. Just wish I knew how difficult it is to remove the gates, lol! What's involved with removing and installing pelfreybuilt?

I just installed my pelfrey hc with swing out. Its a nice simple design. Like it said above you can do it. Its not encouraged tho. Why are you wanting to remove it? Just incase you need to haul with the tail gate down?

Yes exactly, haul with the tailgate down, right now I have 33s and can fit my spare under, but in the future I would like 35s am gonna need the tire carrier.

Have you thought about just doing a hc bumper then a tire carrier In the bed on the bed rails that is removable if need be. Avid makes a nice one that slides around where ever you want in the bed and very easy to remove if you want

Once you take It off you would basically need to 're grease the bearings then put them back in correctly each time. You cant just slide it off and back on.

That sounds like a PIA, exactly what I don't want to deal with. Is this the same way other companies swing outs work? Looking for something simpler if possible.

Or another option. If you look at @T4C0CH40S build he has a brute force rear bumper that jeep Andrew built a tower off of and made a angled swing out on that can be reversed so the tire sits in the bed or angled out of the bed and can be removed

    Too many to list..
I have the Bruteforce one. Removing is defiantly not encouraged. Can you do it.. Yes. But it would be a pain in the ass. The removal is easy. But dealing with the bearings, seal and grease. Plus if you have it off long enough, the spindle will get rusty and needs to be cleaned off before you reinstall.

Yes It is pretty standard across the board. They all run on a spindle with bearings in side the hinge

All pro makes one that splits in half and opens both ways so you can run it open with the tail gate down but its not high clearance and not offered in hc either

Only interested in high clearance bumpers. With the ATO, looks like the pin is on the swing gate not the bumper. I know the pelfreybuilt has the pin in the bumper right?

Which pin? The spindle the hinge sits on? Or the locking pin for the handle on the swing out? Or the pin that locks the swing out into the open position is on the swing out aswell

Pin = Spindle, sorry, lol. The ATO hinge is on the bumper, spindle on the tailgate. Reverse of pelfreybuilt...I think,

Bruteforce is MIA, pelfreybuilt won't do anything custom, too busy!

Yeah thats reversed of the pelfrey. Mine has the spindle welded to the bumper Itself then the hinge and bearings are on the swing out
