If only I fit (heightwise RTT and lift) in a garage... I'm f'ed either way - can't fit in a standard parallel parking spot in Boston, nor in any garage in Boston either. Solution - daily driver.

Out of curiosity, does the spare tire interfere with the back up camera? I rely on that thing pretty heavily since I have a cap on the bed.

Usually companies send a relocation bracket to move the camera to the swingout. I know mobtown does and pelfrey used to.

Yes. The fold down table/swingout arm does. But, I rerouted mine on the swing out. Still works and functions great.

Pelfrey sent two. One for 05-11's and 12-15's. I got both and just used the one that fit.

if i remove the spare and tire carrier, i can fit in my garage

you need to relocate camera if you have swingout, where depends on you

Thanks for all the help guys, I regretted not splurging on my first bumper so I'll be making the jump soon. I can get some of the cost back by reselling my pelfrey. One last question, with the tire carrier locked in the 90 degree out position, can you still drop the tailgate and access the bed (Edit: dumb question, I see a post a couple pages back with it dropped)? What would stop you from locking the carrier out if you wanted to haul something in the bed, stability?

That's a lot of weight on a long leverage point, so adding in the bouncing while driving around and that's a lot of stress on that hinge. I wouldn't ever do it. MAYBE if I had a bare swingout with no spare tire on it.

i would never run a swingout open and drive, small pin holds that swinging mass in place

if you plan on hauling large items alot, dont get a swingout -- most people remove the swingoutwhen they are moving big items.

Yes. You can still drop the tailgate and access the bed.

What would stop you from locking the carrier out if you wanted to haul something in the bed, stability? Damaging the swingout, truck, other vehicles etc. I would NOT recommend this.

I'll probably order a swingout and only use it when I'm going where I'll need it. I do most of my kayak fishing locally so I usually stick the kayak in the bed. On longer trips it goes on the roof rack so wouldn't be an issue to have my spare on the swingout then.

I wish my truck came with a backup camera... I'll add one in someday but so far the bumpstop spare has worked mint!

Since I have a dual swing-out I could probably get away with leaving the swingouts open if there was no spare on the carrier. I wouldn't drive long distances or over rough terrain though. SOS's high clearance has a massive reinforcement bar under it to help support the swingouts and the hc section - though not enough to hold a spare on it with the swings open.

Randy aren't you running 35s now? I see mobtown says it'll only fit up to a 285/75/16 but down the road I might size up if I ever get the funds to regear.

34s, but the website is wrong. It'll fit 35 no problem. There's a whole lot of things on the website that need updating it's not even funny! I've brought it to his attention but he just doesn't have the time right now.

I'm thinking of adding a removable swing out to my ebay (All-Pro) rear bumper. Has anyone fabbed up a swing out they added to their existing aftermarket bumper that didn't come with one?
