I’m getting my 1st aftermarket stereo system installed/tuned next Monday. I got a Audiocontrol DM-810, LC-1.800, LC-6.1200 for the DSP and amps. JL 10tw3 sub, JL C5-075ct tweeters. Audiofrog GS690 front speakers, GS60 rears. I’ve heard Bose systems in Audis and liked them but felt they lacked kick. Will I be impressed?

I have that same DSP in my truck. I recommend getting the bluetooth adapter for it, using the USB cable is sometimes a pain depending on where you have it installed.

Ive heard that. If im doing more of a set it and forget it type build do I really need it? MAYBE in a year or 2 I might add another amp and sub. Is it really worth it in my case?

You have the equipment to get there but it all depends on the tune.
That Audison thing I put in my truck under the passenger seat uses micro-usb so I got an extension and panel mounted a micro-usb socket in the glove box for it. I didn't have a bluetooth option though.

It's not going to hurt to have it in case you become a tinkerer. You'll find that after listening to it for a while certain things will kind of nag at you and you start to want to screw with it and depending on how inconvenient it is, you may let stuff slide for quite a while because busting out the kit is an ordeal.

If there’s no sound treatment being done, you’re not getting your money’s worth

And echoing above, it depends on the tune. A bad tune will ruin a good system

but spending the money on all that equipment isn’t worth it if you’re not using good quality brackets and doing decent coverage with deadening

And as for the Bluetooth adapter, I think it’s worth it. Like Dolby said, you will find yourself tinkering more than you think. Especially if this is your first good system in a personal vehicle.
Most people don’t actually know what sounds good to their ears. It takes some time to notice the things you want to change based on your music choices. For example, I tuned my system (using ‘tuned’ loosely) to music, but I didn’t factor in that I listen to a LOT of podcasts and audio books. Several of these have male voices that tend to resonate down in the 70-80hz range. It’s not something I ever noticed before, and I had to go back and change my crossover points to work around that. So my mids are crossed over a little higher than I would typically like, and same for my sub.

And the sound will also change as the speakers break in.

I shopped around for a shop that knows what they are doing. The tech working on my truck has the same DSP for his car and uses a similar amp setup. Went over where the amps would be installed. Told them Im going off roading a lot and need the stuff super secure and they said they will use good quality brackets.. Some shops I went to looking for a quote flat out didnt know what they were doing.

36 square feet of dynamat for the 4 doors and they are using good quality brackets. Will that be enough? Told them about off roading plus they had a bunch of razrs/off road vehicles they were working on. They assured me everything will be secure.

Im going to have a 5/8in MDF box behind both back seats, would it be worth while to dynamat behind the sub? Im only really noticing sound coming from the doors.

On the back wall will be very noticeable. 36sq feet will be more than plenty so no problems there. 3-4 feet per door, and have them cover the back wall and down where the back seat brackets are. You may even have some left over

I have two of the 10TW3s in my 2017 Tacoma. They sound good for thin subs, but they don't have the thump of my 12W6.

So my bad on the lack of updating but I love the system. Very balanced but has that low end kick when you turn it up. Took about 8 hours for the install and tuning. Overall got charged about 800 for the build. Couldnt have asked for better other than maybe getting a 12 inch sub instead of 10 inch.

Thanks for the recommendation to do the dynamat behind the cab. I feel I would have been disappointed with the amount of road noise if I didnt do that.

So ive never had a system other than this one so idk if its the speakers or amp or dsp doing most of the true work but the amount of fine detail i can hear is remarkable. The accuracy of the system is great. The slap of the sub is great, the vocals especially from a Adele or Michael Jackson level artist is great too.

I love sports cars and like to drive fast so having a daily truck can sometimes be a little bit of a bummer but not after having this system. I love my drives more than ever. Goal accomplished.
