So, I've had my tacoma for a few weeks... Everything is great except that it idles rather high on a "cold" start. It idles at around 2k rpm on a cold start. After about 30-45 seconds, it drops to maybe around 1k. That's still a little high. Once it's warmed up, I can crank it and it'll idle normally. It's just when I first start it in the morning.

Any ideas? I could just be overreacting

My 06 standard cab I have for running up and down these gravel roads does the same thing.

Okay, just wanted to be sure. I'd much rather be safe than sorry.

If 2k cold idle for 30 seconds is normal then my truck is the broken one.

Even on a hot day my truck idles high for about 20-30 seconds.

I just traded my '14 2.7 for a '14 V6. My '14 2.7 did the exact same, completely normal. Most modern cars rev high at cold start to warm or pre-heat the cats for tougher cold start emissions.
