High idle surge

    2001 tacoma 2.7 4x4. It started yesterday idling high and surging between 1500-2000 rpms. Any help is appreciated.

    Before pulling the trigger on the parts cannon, I would do a little more analysis. Check out your fuel trims, O2 sensors, check for vacuum leaks, test your IAC, and throttle body.

    It turned out that the throttle body valve was hanging up. Cleaned it and everything works good.

    Utility Shell, Ultra 062 wheels, bilstein 5100, OME880 coils, wheelers progressive AAL, Whiteline LCA bushings, poly sway bar and steering rack bushings, led dash cluster, shifter bushings, 4runner mirrors.
    You mean the idle air control valve on the bottom of the throttle body? Seems like its the answer every time.

    Its a butterfly valve in the throttle body. It opens and closes as you accelerate or decelerate.
