Just got a taco with leaking Valve cover gasket and spark plug seals. Replaced them but now I have a high idle. Currently looking for leaks. Hoses all hooked right. Steady at 1.3-1.5 rpms. What can cause high idle?

Maybe it was idling low before with the vacuum leak and PO adjusted idle to compensate? Now that vacuum leak is corrected the idle is high. Reintroduce the vacuum leak and all should be normal.

Are you getting the PO505 code??

It is normal for the engine to have a high idle till the temperature comes up

IDK was running perfectly normal before repairs. I'm thinking valve cover isn't sitting all the way down on backside but I haven't confirmed. Could this cause high idle or vacuum leak to cause it?

Any vacuum leak can cause the engine to run at higher rpms to keep running. Surprised there are no codes. If valve cover is not sitting correctly that would be the first place I’d check. Possible that your gasket is not sitting properly.

Hopefully you torqued all to spec, and put in new gaskets on such a job.
Then made sure all vac lines are in the right place.
If you cleaned the throttle body, go back and do it again, this time clean the IAC thoroughly also.
Your idle will go back to where it is supposed to be.

Idle control valve if you don't find obvious leaks. 7 out of 10 that's the problem with high idle. Does ithe idle get lower after it warms up?

If the valve cover isn't down you'll see a pool of oil soon enough.
