Your probably best keeping it. Nobody will pay that much for a car with 324k miles and it's not worth it to go down super low especially if it's working well

Sorry to rag on you man, I can’t tell how in the world you think $9500 is a fair price. I mean, it’s clean, but every single component on that vehicle is long beyond it’s designed life expectancy. Whoever put 320k miles on it certainly got their value out of it. You can’t consume a vehicle, and then still try to squeeze a ridiculous resale value out of it.
For $9500, I could buy a 2008 Double cab with 150k miles. V6 as well.
I would expect this price to be listed at ~$5500, and sit in CL for weeks until it drops down to $5000.

You asked opinions, and I’m just trying to be real here. I have extensive Craigslist experience and I have recently become very knowledgeable with 1st and 2nd gen sale prices.

That is what I am here for, I have no idea how much more to go below book and even trade in value to get a fair price on it. I guess too I don't see how thinking $9,500 is "ridiculous" being that it is well below what the value is according to KBB. Thanks

I got $7500 trade-in on my 2005 Access Cab 4cyl. MT SR5 but it was a 4x2 and had 145k miles on it. I think it was worth more but doing it as a trade-in saved me on sales tax.

The $9,500, was that a dealer quote or KBB? Cause if it was I would jump all over it.

Like everyone else is saying, you wont get more then 5K for it, especially since its only a 4cyclinder AC.

And dont waste your time on craiglists, only scammers on there.

Basing it off of what NADA says, this is my only stand point for pricing.

I have come across this too in searching for a close comp to my truck

For whatever reason, I think your KBB value is way off. I have almost the exact same truck, an '06 with 180k, and my truck is valued at the high end for private party sale at $9,586. I would try lowering the price.

Are you sure about your book value? I went to KBB web page and entered the information for your truck. If you list is at "Excellent" condition the private party value is only $9,802. I personally don't consider -$302 to be "well below" book value. Also to truly be "Excellent" condition is a pretty high bar. If you list it as "very good" condition it comes back with $5,959 trade in value and $8,860 private party sale value.

No, I only deal with Craigslist. It’s pretty much your only way to tap into the private market. Scammers are annoying, but so is getting ripped off by a dealer.

Without Craigslist your only options are newspapers (which nobody reads), Facebook market place (which is a joke, right up there with OfferUp), and obscure online websites like autotrader.com or something.
    I guess there’s eBay, but F that

From there, your only option to sell it is word of mouth or the dealer, and the dealer sure as hell don’t want that truck.

But please, please, PLEASE stop being one of those “b-b-but the KBB says...”
In most cases, KBB is worthless trash. The only reason I use it anymore is because KBB has a smartphone app, and NADA doesn’t. Kbb gets me in the ballpark, but it could be off by thousands.

Yes, I did realize my ad has the screenshots from NADA not KBB it does seem that KBB is a little lower, so theres the first bit of difference

True, as I said, this is why I'm here. Id like to get more of a real like ballpark value. Not cry “b-b-but the KBB says...” as all with "average" miles seem to be listed for over blue book anyways. at least in my area

    Hey OP,

I got my 2008 ACLB 2.7L 5spd manual 4x4, clean title, interior as clean/detailed as yours, with a 3" tuffcountry all around lift (spacer and AAL/shock in the rear) with 112xxx miles. I say this because it's just about the same as yours; the pre-2009 electronics and whatnot, same trim, minor lift, etc. I jumped on mine at the price of $15,500, which fit my budget. This is just a comparison cost for something similar with less miles. Personally, I wouldn't go for this for 9k, however, if you keep it on CL long enough someone's bound to bite... It's hard to ruin the bulletproof 2TR-FE engine  good luck

KBB & NADA values are worthless with this type of mileage. The market will determine the value.

Correct, I just used NADA values and a base line of tacomas on my local craigslist to get a starting point. Very hard to do with not having come across many 2g tacomas with this kind of mileage. That is why I have started this thread, to get a better idea on price.

Ruckus, as others have mentioned, you may just have to lower your price. With 325k, an ancillary problem is that nobody will finance it. Most folks today unfortunately can’t scratch together more than 5k for a vehicle, period. If they can, they are buying newer and lower mileage, or using that for a down payment. So if you are wanting to sell a car for >5k, the buyer will need a loan. Most banks won’t finance anything over 8-10 years old, have mileage limits, and while some credit unions and specialty finance companies will, they will charge big $$ in interest for it. So your buyer pool is severely limited to people who are willing to take the risk on 325k miles, or those who simply cannot afford anything newer <— not your ideal buyer pool.

You have a great looking truck, kudos to you for keeping it up. Your best bet may be to keep it, run it forever, or failing that get the TPS sensors installed, make it a no excuses truck, and keep lowering the price. With that kind of mileage, everybody assumes a new engine is just around the corner, plus clutch, brakes, xfer case, water pump, alternator, etc.

I had the same issue years ago selling a Honda Civic with 255k. Car was stock, in good shape, never wrecked - probably the only one in town without a salvage title, 20” rims, cut springs, and a bunch of other jacked up ‘mods’ done to it. Had to fight to get more than $1500 for it, and truthfully, it was going to need some work in the near future. Nobody wanted it due to mileage, even though the condition obviously spoke for itself. Just is what it is. I’m sure the kid that bought it did everything mentioned above to it!

    I hear ya man.
I’m trying to be polite here, but I don’t see how you could come to your conclusion.
Sure, it’s possible that the CL activity in your area is vastly different than my area. After all, you are halfway across the country, but still some things can be relatively uniform.
If a brand new car sells for $15k in your area, but goes for $20k in my area, then you would assume some people would make a business out of buying the cheap cars, shipping them over, and making profit. The prices would average out in the long run. I would assume this concept to also be true with used Tacomas.

In your situation (again, basing this off of my person CL experience and what I can currently find on a CL search) how did you look at ads for an identical truck with half the mileage, listed for $9k and then think “Yeah, I’ll list mine for $9k, too” ??

That’s the end of my ranting.
To actually give you some productive input - of all the guys who just said “it’s overpriced” did anyone even offer a price? Maybe call one of them back and negotiate to meet somewhere in the middle.

Also, as we all know - something is only worth what people are willing to pay for it.
You may think your dad’s trans am is worth $30k, but if 10 people in a row offer $7500...well...odds are it might be worth $7500.

Can you show me where this is? Im here for input on a price, not to be belittled on how I got to my current price point. Consensus seems like my price is high, I'm willing to lower it but not get bashed on why I have thought my price was ok up front. Thanks

Here is the craigslist "market" in my area

The miles are killing it for you.

Your truck is like meeting a smoking hot woman.. then she tells you she slept with 217 men.
