I would take my chances on that over buying a 400k truck that no matter how its cared for the engine is near the end of its lifespan. Plus if the need comes to sell it who wants a half a million mile truck? Pretty small buyer group.

:gossip: don't tell that to the million mile quys

Anything over 100k deserves a full mechanical pre purchase check. The answer to that is what matters most, not the mileage.

Example. A poorly maintained 150k heavy hauler off road unit vs a 400k interstate cruiser with by the book oil changes.

I agree with you completely if as a buyer you are incapable or unwilling to do due diligence. And frankly, most folks don't.

But if you are, there are some bargains out there............

It's all about the maintenance and repairs of the truck, doesn't matter if it 150,000 or 500,000, if repairs maintenance are not done on a 150,000 truck there will be issues, but of course would be better to find a truck with as few miles as possible.
520,000 miles and no end in sight for me.

It matters the majority of the time. The percentage of trucks still running at 500k is minute compared to those at 150-200k. There are exceptions but not many.

I would buy it, it's priced right for the miles. We have an 01 @470k. I think it's funner to drive than my 98 with 130k. Anything you get will need work, with a higher mileage vehicle you can get for cheaper, then put a little $ into maintenance. Get the truck for $3500, put 3k into work once you get it, your in it for 6500
