Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Get a scanguage and find out, a check engine light can mean lots of things. Only way to know is let the computer tell you.

Your local parts store will be able to help you. Tell them you have a check engine light on and would like them to scan for codes. Take the information they give you and then decide what avenue you want to take to fix the problem. Do it yourself, mechanic, go to a dealership, etc.

First, get the code read and then you have a general idea. I have faced an intermittent CEL for the last 50k miles (at 202,000 miles now), usually its just an emission system code, even with parts of the exhaust replaced, I am convinced that at this point it is probly a combination of the evap canister, gas cap, 02 sensors, leaky exhaust, etc. If it's something trivial, just suck it up and hope the CEL burns out before the truck does

Go to autozone or Reilly's and have them check to see actually what it is. Free as well and will give you the picture and how to replace the part or fix the problem.
