    Hey Everyone,

I just purchased a 2013 Tacoma, but noticed a high pitch noise coming from the head unit / speakers. It is the stock head unit. I will attach a link to a video of it below:
    - doesn't matter if engine is off/on, noise begins as soon as head unit powers on
    - noise does not change with volume or RPM
    - noise does not change with AC

Is this just a bad ground or loose connection? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

It may be hard to hear over the video, but here's the link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yIvBYyplyaMFTTzQBf8uKb1eY7zA-LmO/view?usp=sharing

    Update:
The noise is definitely coming through from the speakers. I’ve got the head unit pulled out and trying to locate any loose connections.

    Another update:
I could not find any loose connections. I also noticed that the noise did not occur until after the car had been running for a few minutes. My theory was that the head unit was going bad and the noise perhaps began when the fan inside the unit started running. I ordered a Joying head unit to see if the noise persisted and thankfully it stopped entirely upon installing the new HU. In conclusion, it seems that my stock head unit was simply crapping out.

    @ThiccGorilla
I’m having a similar problem with my new Joying unit. Did you figure out what it was?

Once the head unit boots up and it is ready to play music, it will create a high pitched sound. With music on or off, truck on or off, screen on or off, Bluetooth or radio or anything…

@dpele I was getting my noise BEFORE I installed my Joying unit. Once I removed the stock HU and installed the Joying, the noise disappeared. The issue was directly related to my old stock HU.

In your case, I would probably take the same steps I took: locate where the noise is coming from (through the speakers? From the HU itself? etc.), check all of your connections behind the HU, and then diagnose accordingly.

Did you have the noise with the head unit you replaced with this new Joying unit? Or did it only start happening AFTER installing the new unit?

It only happened after installing it. I think it's coming from the speakers but I need to look into it more in depth.
I was doing some research and it seems it might be grounding somewhere.

Ok gotcha. I would think that if it were a grounding issue, the noise would have been happening with your old unit too. Did it start happening immediately after installing the new unit?

    Never noticed it before.
I also have aftermarket speakers, subs, and amps.

I'll let you know if I figure it out haha

That makes me think it’s related to the HU, but best of luck! Let me know what you find.
