I’ve had a very annoying high pitched sound coming from behind the glovebox. The noise has been there since new.

I tried to have it fixed once but was at the worst dealership in history. The dealer claimed they didn’t hear anything and that they couldn’t fix my alignment for my Tacoma to drive straight despite admitting that it veered to the left. Needless to say I am not going to that dealer anymore.

I think I screwed myself in getting it fixed because, despite not having the sound fixed, I had an aftermarket head unit installed.

I took it to a new dealership for the 10k maintenance and to have the high pitched sound fixed. As I worried, the dealer said the new head unit was causing the sound. I am planning on taking out the head unit and returning to the dealership.

Has anyone else had a high pitched noise from behind the glovebox? I think it is a grounding issue. I searched for causes and came across a second gen forum that said the main car computer is behind the glovebox. Is it still there in the third gen?

I Want to give this dealership the benefit of the doubt...they did the radar recall no question asked despite my truck having a Chinese knockoff pro-grill.

A/C on? It’s probably that if so. There is a thread around for it

It’s not the A/C. It happens whether it’s heat, A/C, or completely off.

Anyone know if the computer is behind the glovebox like the 2nd/1st gen?
