Some of you are confusing the low pressure (in tank) fuel pump recall with the subject of this thread... which is actually a warranty enhancement for those owners who have a weeping high pressure fuel pump...
The thread title isn't helping, for sure :D

Got that about 5 days ago. Ontario, Canada. Warranty enhancement. 10 years from date of first use on the high pressure fuel pump. I’ve never smelled gas in or around the truck. I put it with the owners manual. Extra warranty on expensive hard working part is kinda cool I guess. But the now typical Toyota “not an actual recall but basically a recall” type shit seems kinda silly.

So what’s the difference between a “recall” and a “warranty enhancement”

I guess gas stench within the cabin in the US is normal.

It’s probably just that they don’t have an actual fix(revised part) so they will just replace the part and seals with the same stuff. Perhaps it’s not a very common issue at all and Toyotas just being cool because they know some people freak out when they smell gas. I’ve never heard of this complaint before, though.

Edit- forgot about emissions. Makes sense why they would be on it quick. I’m sure something similar will come out for owners in the US soon.

Yes, received one the other day too. No fuel smell from the high pressure fuel pump from under the hood. I guess it’s not weeping yet. I know there was an recall for the same pump for being excessively noisy on the 2016- 18’s. Nice to be covered for an additional 10 years or if they come up with an improved part and do a recall later.

So I didn't receive this letter yet buy I have a 2016 TRD sport in Ontario Canada. I am 99% sure my HPFP has just started making the loud chirping noise. I don't really smell anything but I was more interested in the sound rather than smell.

I didn't bother with the extended warranty when i bought the truck. Does anyone think I have a chance at getting my HPFP swapped or should I avoid the dealership and just replace on my own dime at a local shop?

This. No gas smell, no new fuel pump.

I got the letter yesterday. I filed it away. Nice to have in case a problem crops up later.

There was a TSB issued by Toyota USA for this loud chirping. I would assume that it applies to us as well. This current new notice is for any form of leaks creating gas fumes. Also, an issue for EPA.

Received last week. Haven't noticed a fuel smell so don't see a reason to bring it to Toyota for a day to tell me the same thing.

Yea I'm not sure it applies to trucks out of warranty for the chirping noise. Mine is so loud I can't drive with the windows down its fucking embarrassing lol. I am at the point to spend the $1000 + to just replace the HPFP as long as it addresses the noise

Thread tools bro at the top. You should have a menu that says thread tools (where the "Watch Thread" link is or near it if I remember correctly).

When I get home I can post the TSB up or someone else has a copy. . Maybe you can use it to negotiate with the dealer?
