I just received my toyota fuel pump bs 4 page letter today as its vin number is one of the vehicles affected.....says, THIS IS NOT A RECALL, but basically they have 10 years to make it one. In the meantime, if you don't smell any gas fumes, tear the bottom of this page off, and store in your truck for future reference. I guess they rather see your truck burn down first, rather than inspect the fuel pump for any leaks.

The thing I am not understanding right now is how an OEM fuel pump in the US is around $800.. toyota Canada just quoted me $2500 just for the part.. I know there is a dollar exchange but it's not that bad.

I checked several other places and am getting similar numbers. $1,800 is the cheapest I have found, part only.

I am thinking about taking a weekend trip to Buffalo to get this part because fuck toyota canada.

What you do if some are like me. I suffered a stroke some years ago and my sense of smell as been affected. I'd have a hard time smelling gas if I was doused in it.

Are they any other symptoms that could be related to this? I have some annoying chugging/lugging anytime the truck up shifts and the RPMs drop below 1800 or so

I just received the letter today, for the "Customer Support Program 23TE01 Notification", for my 2018. Mine doesn't say "Warranty Enhancement" but it appears to have the same purpose.

I wonder what the statistics are, as in, what percent of vehicles are actually experiencing this issue. My house burned down a few years ago, I really don't need my Tacoma igniting in the garage and going through that again.

I have 2023, making chirping sounds. Its not the belt so most fellas here suggested its fuel pump, will bring it to dealer and see, it only has 13K miles

    I have a 19 Tacoma 40k miles. Fuel
Pump starting sticking, just outside standard warranty also just outside recall month and year. Called and was told about a warranty enhancement program, waiting for a call on Tuesday for appointment.

So...has anybody gotten the pump replaced outside of powertrain for chirping instead of the fuel odor? No odor, but mine has started chirping....feels like my truck is starting to spring issues left and right. I'm about ready to dump this thing off somewhere and get something else. I'm not paying $900 for a HPFP (part only cost).

You may have to call and ask either Toyota itself or a dealership to check and see if you still have Federal Emissions Warranty. The coverage reads kinda vague but under Air/Fuel, it just says "other components". If you fall under coverage, then ask if the "Other Components" listed under Federal includes the High Pressure Fuel Pumps.

I thought Toyota sent out a special service bulletin covering the HPFP for 10 years. However, does it have to leak first though?

The warranty enhancement only specifically mentions “odor”, which makes me think chirping complaints will probably receive no attention.

Does anybody know if the techs at the dealership will have to smell the odor themselves? I've noticed it a few times myself when I pull into the garage but its not every time. Are there any other symptoms to check for in the mean time?

I’ve been using QuikTrip 93 octane for a few years pretty much exclusively. I had noticed very light hints of the chirp recently, I’m talking super faint, so light not sure that’s even what it was. The most recent fill up at the time of the noticeable chirping was from a different gas station. Still 93 but who knows if it was bad or what. I ran the tank down to below 0 miles and filled up at Walmart using 90 octane ethanol free. Ethanol free has been said to make the chirping stop, so we shall see. So far no noise. I’m fine going with 90 octane as opposed to 93 if it shuts up that pump.
