High-rise shells, enough room to sit up?

Just sold my cab high shell. I had a platform built into the bed of my 3rd gen using 2 2x6s and 2 sheets of plywood.

I got tired of the coffin sleeping arrangement. My goal is to build a bed platform that can easily be converted into a couch with a small countertop to cook while in weather.

Considering purchasing a high rise shell to get an additional 6 inches of clearance. My question is, is that enough clearance to be able to sit up while on the platform?

    Picture for reference:

Oh that's cool. I suppose it would depend on how tall you are.
I think I could with ease.

I was supposed to be tall, good looking and rich but the factory was on strike when they build me.

I'd be looking around to find one and personally test it.

You say it adds an additional 6 inches, my wife has always wanted an additional 6 as well...

I need about 36" to sit up straight (sit with your back against a wall and have someone measure from the floor to the top of your head). My standard height topper that's level with the roof is just tall enough with no platform. So with a platform the extra height of the topper needs to be at least equal to the height of the platform. Plus a few inches for a mattress.

A work in progress, but this setup was my 1st attempt with this design. My end goal is to install a pop-top topper with room to completely stand up with bed over cab. Like Topo Toppers.

if you dont need the bed up top and want a cap height shell that pops up, you could look into gaia campers and add a fabric wall or something

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I have a Leer mid-rise (180) and my bed platform is quite a bit higher than most. I'm on the shorter side, 5'5", but can still sit up fairly straight and not feel too cramped.20230805_200728.jpg 20240713_082943.jpg 20230414_184519.jpg

That looks pretty sick, essentially what I’m trying to accomplish except the couch would be turned 90 degrees and pushed up towards the cab.

Looking to do go with a higher topper too. Currently have Alu-Cab Contour with RTT but hate the rtt so going back to sleeping in the bed.
