I have a 2003 tacoma sr5 trd automatic gearbox, which I purchased recently, I noticed that upshifting from first gear happens after 2250 rpm on a flat surface with the lightest throttle. 2nd gear to third changes at 2250 too. Is that normal ? And what to check.

    Thanks all for helping me.

If you slam your throttle to the floor does it hold the gear longer. This sounds like pretty normal behavior to me so far though.

If I floor it yes it does reach 5k rpm, but this is not my issue, Im talking about cruising at low speed with light throttle, 1st to 2nd and 2nd to third doesnt upshift before 2250 rpm. Is that normal?

I get what you mean, if you had a funky input speed sensor it wouldn't react to full throttle shifts though. So yeah, it sounds pretty normal to me. My land cruiser which has a slightly larger transmission from the same family shifts pretty similar to that.

Speedytech, thanks for your helpfull feedback, I checked all my speed sensor, and they all read the same.
Anybody with a v6 automatic tacoma to share their experience?

Guys, the issue is solved, grey wire mod was the problem, it changes the shifting pattern, and cancels overdrive.

Huh, never heard of this issue with the grey wire mod before. That's interesting...
