Engine stall from normal operating temps can cause a false trans over temp light. That and trans over temp doesn't shutdown the engine, that would be a ridiculous safety issue.

Yeah once I slid backwards while in drive offroading and my truck turned off and I got trans over temp warning. Very good point.

Bring back the good ol days when shit just stopped working and you had to figure out why. Didnt try to make an error message to cover every single possibility :D

The truck is a 2018 with no modifications, just has TRD rims and tires vs. SRS. It’s an automatic. No speeding involved. Was going driving downhill to a red light and truck shut off. It wouldn’t start up immediately- took a few tries.
The mechanic said the trans fluid code just means it triggers when the vehicle stalls.

yes, the dealer found a P1603 code. Apparently that code just reports the truck stalled

Unknown. Have taken only to the dealer for oil changes and they said they checked the fluid.

No modifications that I’m aware of other than the trucks wheels and tires were replaced with TRDs

I am the original poster of the high trans fluid thread. New here so I’m not sure what some of the other poster’s are referring to about gas, etc. or if a thread merged?

My issue is with the truck shutting off at an intersection twice. Had a warning light for trans fluid. Gone to 2 Toyota dealerships who are a code P1603 in the computer’s history. Nothing they can do since they can’t duplicate the problem.
The mechanic contacted Toyota engineers who gave they various things to look for but all checks out.
