I would like to slightly speed up the idle, on a 2.4 1999 tacoma. I read a thread, that someone had grounded out the AC switch or something of that nature. Another thread had a link about reworking the power steering lines to increase idle to 800 or so. Can someone please help locate the link or point me in the right direction, send a write up. Please Thanks in advance.

Btw, it is currently around 650 -700, just trying to get it closer to 800. Thanks

I was able to just unplug my AC compressor and it idled up when the truck thought I was turning the ac on. But that was on a 92

Alternator puts out higher out put at high rpm. Winch is on e of the reasons for high output.

instead of altering the computer controller set timing and idle why not just get a higher output alternator?

High Output Alt is expensive compared to a free mod by disconnecting a vacuum line or simply grounding a wire.

Does anyone know which wire to ground on the ac switch, to speed the idle up?

^^^ This is merely an unneeded opinion.

Guys, I'm looking to save money as this is an older truck. So again, Im trying to save $$$ by doing a mod and not throw parts which translates in to spending money unnecessarily.

here is an idea someone posted on another site. Someone please take a moment to look at this and help me understand this a little more.

Well kind of. It was unplugged because when I bought my truck the Ac was gutted. I thought it would work perfectly when it came time for a winch. When I would hit the switch for Ac it would idle up 500 rpms. But I ended up installing Ac.

I was thinking about installing a kill switch inline so the Ac does not get power. Simply flip the switch so the Ac compressor does not get power and turn Ac on so the rpms would idle up.
